The William in the 1891 is on the 1881 with son Edmund and daugher Emily, but his birth is 1847. (wife's name Edith).

There is W H McDowell, widower, boilermaker, b1848, Devonport on the 1891 with a son Edmund, b1880 Devonport.

Joyce, you must have got back to William somehow, especially as you have his wife's maiden name. Please could you give ALL the info you have otherwise we could be wasting our time looking up the wrong family.

There is another marriage for a William Henry in Stoke D in 1881 who could be the one on the 1891 census.

I have taken a look and can't find William McDowell on any census from 1881 onwards!!!!

Not quite sure what you are looking for Joyce. Is it William and Charlotte's marriage? Have you found them on any census? Do you know where and when the children were born?

No marriage coming up on freebmd. The names sound Irish/Scottish.

Have you tried a search on this site to see if anyone else is looking for the family, or freebmd for the marriage
