This bothers me - you have to be able to delete an e-mail - all e-mails can be deleted.

Have you a) closed it and b) instead of hitting the x at the top or just deleting it. - Right click the entry with the mouse so whole area is coloured and then press your shift key and delete key at the same time - it will ask if you want to permanently delete and you say yes. Otherwise if you just delete it can still be around somewhere and not be completely cleared.

Does your windows mail look like this with the preview pane at the bottom?

http://www.microsoft.com/library/media/1033/windows/images/windows-vista/features/screenshot_Windows_Mail.jpg

If so, follow these instructions:

http://email.about.com/od/outlookexpresstips/qt/Disable_Preview_Pane_WM_OE.htm

If you remove the preview pane, you should be able to remove the message.

I regularly get "security alerts" from HSBC - never had anything to do with them in my life - I get at least two or three every week - printed some off and gave them to HSBC - they look really authentic although I know they aren't

Hi Michael,

S&N Genealogy is a reputable site as far as I know and I would think if you can't get into the email it can't affect your computer but I might be wrong.
Someone on here will be able to tell you what the best to deal with it I'm sure!
Do you have antivirus software on your computer?

Michael, if you have your folders in a list down the left-hand side of your page, right click on the Inbox folder and you'll get a drop down menu that allows you to create a new folder.

Once you have made the new folder either drag the email into it, or right click on the email which will give you a drop down menu which will allow you to move it into your new folder.

When it is in the new folder, click on the folder in the left-hand list and delete it.

It will go into your deleted items folder and you can delete it from there as usual.

Can you move it to another folder? Try creating a folder "rubbish" under inbox, move email, delete the folder without opening?

Very unusual. Not sure what to suggest - if I get in a mess I normally re-start my computer but not sure if this is the right thing to do!

Michael, I can't understand why you are unable to delete this. You aren't opening it are you? Try to delete while it is closed.

Michael.
Be careful.
I had one this morning from someone who said he had been mugged in his hotel & had all his money stolen, he wanted me to send him money. My suspicion was aroused when he said the hotel was in Glasgow, UK. He wouldn´t have said UK if he was British. Also, I had never heard of him,so I deleted it.

Michael, if you get mysterious emails you MUST NOT open them - they can infect your computer. I would delete this immediately. When you look at your inbox there will be a "delete" option, select this email by clicking on the little box next to it then click on "delete".
