Looking to find information on a burial of a Joesph Smith "long known as Geroge Garnham" buried in Stondon Massey in 1916. We can not find either a birth of George Garnham, suppossibly born in 1839, nor a marriage to a Harriet (Lewis) whom is my great-grandmother. She was married to a James Garnham in 1874. In the 1881 census, we can not find them. They did have two children, Alice Harriet in 1875, Withnesham, and Rosa Emily in 1877, Henley, Suffolk. There is a birth of a Joesph Smith in Pleshey, Chelmsford of that year, but do not really know if this was him. He was found in the 1841 and 1851 census with his mother and father, George and Susan. George Garnham in the 1891 cesus birthplace, unknown. In the 1901 census, Chelmsford, Essex. And in the 1911, Barking, Suffolk. If anyone has any information on this story, we would really love to hear from you. One other note, this man was in Stanford Rivas Poor Law House when he died, Harriet passed in the same year, her before him, in Radley Green, Essex. The two questions are, who is George Garnham and what happened to James Garnham? |

George Garnham's death on the church burial records says Joesph Smith, Long known as George Garnham. On the death certificate it only says George Garnham. The death date is correct on both enteries. |
