Hi Everyone

What a nice spirited conversation today.

Thankyou SRS for your imput from another angle but I still do not see any reason to delete our thread.
We are a group of very nice people who I might add would not stoop so low as to say things that would offend anyone.

I don't care anyway Genes has given its blessing for the thread to stay on Tips ,the message they sent me yesterday(Page two of this thread) says as much.

It is raining today so glad to get some ,we have been waiting for the rains to arrive .
The farmers are crying out to start seeding .

Catherine welcome back so nice to hear from you again and good wishes to your father for good health.

I will try to get back later

really

Gordon Brown is thrawn

that's a good old dialect word, my dad used to use it!

in the sense of perverse, or peevish

:)))

Hi SRS

friends again :)))))

I also find myself speaking out when I see things are wrong or not fair

as you say, it can be a curse

By heck,

That Sylvia moves fast for an old 'un......

ouch, ouch,ouch

Oh SRS, see what you've started now...............she'll be bopping people all night now.
Don't worry, we're used to it ;;))

By the way, did you notice that The Daily Mail described Gordon Brown as thrawn..........no not Admiral Thrawn of Star Wars fame........is that deja vu again ;)

Night all.

No need to apologise Sylvia :) I like you and think you do a great job on here. You're also Canadian which is a bonus in my eyes :)))) Apologies to all the non-Canadians on here lol

I just find myself having to speak out sometimes when i don't think something is fair or I can see things from another angle. Honestly, it's a curse!

I never intend it to be personal and I would say the same to those I consider friends on here.

So I hope things can be ok between us. I don't like offending or falling out with anyone.

Cynthia Report 12 May 2010 22:15

Well, how old did you say you were Frank????? lol

Sylvia's 80 year old rolling pin eh? Wonder if she went to the shop with her mum to buy it????

[she'll love me for that]

I can feel a whack coming on...lol

Yawn.....really must go now. Good night my very dear friends.

"Not really"...hmmm doesn't sound too convincing Sylvia ;) We'll have to work on that :)))))

So Sylvia, there was more than one thread that mysteriously vanished? They weren't too long, not as long as some threads that are still running smoothly and GR didn't explain why in any detail? Nothing changes there then.

Say for example you had breached the terms and conditions, how would you or anyone learn from it if they didn't know which areas that they breached? Doesn't make much sense to me but then again I don't run GR and not likely to as I haven't won the lottery this evening :(

To me it sounds as though someone has a problem with the help threads which I think you have already suspected. In my opinion it's probably because they are going off topic but that's just a guess (or they were using that as an excuse)

As someone that goes off topic and off at a tangent on most threads, it certainly isn't me that's reported it :)

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 12 May 2010 22:11

No, it wasn't because it was too long SRS, nor because it was unpleasant in any way. Some of the threads I glance through on Chat are downright ....well......unpleasant in the extreme.

We are just a group of well mannered folk who have found pleasure in gently chatting about life whilst nudging up the helpful hints which Sue first posted almost two years ago.

I would certainly like to know who asked for its removal and would have preferred if they could have had the courage to state their case, but I am content to put it's loss behind me and move on with my fabulous friends on here and mull over the events of the day in the way which pleases us.

Ho hum,

It was nothing really, just some satin & lace with the odd rolling pin thrown in.
Sylvia is very particular about who she smacks with her 80 year old implement.

Yes Cynthia, I was a very respectable and upright citizen until an unfortunate episode with that Sylvia........what hit me?

How old do the old fogies have to be before they get ignored by all and sundry ;))

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 12 May 2010 21:59

not really SRS

just wondered what made you make the suggestion

It can't possibly have been too long ..................

there are many threads that are close to 200 PAGES, and a few that are over 500 PAGES long, and they are still in existence.

we were only in the 50's if I remember correctly.

it is also interesting to note that ONLY Help or Tip Giving threads disappeared the other night ....... and the other one largely consisted of a lot of "n"

~~~Secret Red ^^ Squirrel~~~ **007 1/2** Report 12 May 2010 21:44
Hi Cynthia, I've no idea why they've reported it, it was just a suggestion that seemed the most obvious if someone reading it was sticking to the rules. What were you old "fogies" discussing? Nothing too subversive or risque I hope ;)
How long was the thread? has it disappeared because it was too long? I know long threads have disappeared in the past for that reason.
I think the scrapbook thread on General disappeared for that reason but it could be because it was quite risque ;) lol
No it wasn't, do you have a problem with me Sylvia?
Cynthia
Cynthia Report 12 May 2010 21:38
Hi SRS. Possibly, but we're not exactly the only chat thread which isn't on Gen or Chat are we? Why would they report it now? It's been going for so long and was hardly subversive......maybe someone is having a go at 'Old Fogies'!!!!
Could do with a milky cocoa right now Evelyn please. Really tired after an unsettled night......OH has put the electric blanket on for me already as it's quite cold here.
Good thought Anne - or, what about leaving this one here with nudges from us and setting up on General as a friendly group. Anyone else got any thoughts or ideas??
Hi Catherine, lovely to have you back. Glad your dad is keeping reasonably well but you must get worn out with the travelling.
So Frank, do you think the belt was used to good effect then? You seemed to have turned into an upright and respectable citizen......you have, haven't you??
SylviaInCanada Report 12 May 2010 21:34
Hi Catherine
Good to see you popping
and helping to keep this thread near the top of the board
does that answer your question SRS?
It wasn't you who complained was it??????
Do you thing the original thread may have been deleted because you've been chatting on a thread that wasn't on chat or general?
Perhaps someone has reported it for that reason?
FRANK06
FRANK06 Report 12 May 2010 20:30
If Evelyn is having trouble posting after her milky cocoa, what's she going to be like when we get the Horlicks.
Make mine a double Cynthia, it 'll soften the blows from that rolling pin..........
