Jolly hot here today! Whew! At least it's a lot cooler and more pleasant now.

Went mad today and bought a new mobile phone. £9.99. Well, I only use it for emergencies etc. Daughter is patiently working through it with me. Bless.

Haven't decided who I will be next week as yet. Frank is bound to suggest someone like Attila the Hun or Boadica - I'm just waiting for that.

I haven't had that message Sylvia - you must be special. Well, we know you are.

Off for a gentle browse whilst watching tv. Night friends.

sunny and cloudy today ........ proportions varying almost eveyr minute

got a communication from ancestry today. Did anyone else??

Dear Sylvia,

Our system shows that you logged in to Ancestry.co.uk on Wednesday, May 19th, so you’re probably aware that we experienced a technical issue with our family trees system that day.

We have now resolved the issue and we are sorry for any inconvenience it may have caused you. The family tree system is now back to normal and ready for you to use.

As a small gesture of our appreciation for your patience and understanding, we're adding one day to your subscription length. This change will take effect over the next few days.

Thank you for your continuing membership.

Kind regards,
The Ancestry.co.uk Team

It's only one day ........ but then I hadn't actually bee looking at my trees that day :)))))

Going out for coffee in a couple of minutes

Oh dear I only popped in to have an excuse for a "sit down" but the following is in support of Robert
because he has come out of his shell and because I know how generous the Scots can be -

My great Uncle Julian Stuart wrote

"After the American Civil War my father had sent some assistance to a relative, a Colonel in South Virginia, who had fought to maintain slavery. When the war was over, his farm was confiscated and he escaped to Canada, where my father's Australian gold helped him to start a business in Montreal where he prospered. Many years later a young man came to our door one night (Lawrence, Clarence River, NSW). He was the son of the South Virginian cousin and had come to seek his father's benefactor and to repay the benefaction."

Just a snippet from my family history to share with you.

Love,

R

Susan,
On one hand you apologise to Frank for the "Robbie" Burns thing, then you tar us all with the same brush when you say "the Oh best mate is a scotsman, good bloke but very hard to understand. He hates to part with money too" GRRRRR!!!

I typed another message on here last night......I wonder if I forgot to click on submit?? sigh....a sign of increasing years I suppose.

Glad you joined me yesterday morning Josie, it was pretty lonesome on here then.

I'll Genome you Frank me lad. How your wife copes I don't know -bless her.

Hope Anne has a good weekend - at least the weather will be hot for her. I prefer it warm to hot to be honest as I tend to wilt. Sue, much as I hate to admit it, we could actually do with some of that rain over here - at least it would save me watering the plants.

Enjoy your bank holiday Sylvia - we don't get royal days off over here unfortunately.

Bit of a rush but back later - now, where's that submit button?

Susan

Susan Report 22 May 2010 08:31

Hi Everyone

We are getting some very heavy rain at present...Just love it.

Everything is getting a good wash.

Sylvia....My Oh was told more than once when we first got married and had one child to go and get himself somebody desent.

He just told her where to go and if she kept it up she would not see him again.
Don't you just love them when they put you first,as it should be.

Going to see her majesty in an hour see how she is,I don't seem to do anything wrong these days mind you.

Doing a few look ups today on the boards, some very hard ones today can see why some people get frustrated with mistranscriptions and in one case a compleaty wrong name given in the first place it is a wonder we can help at all.

Catherine nice to hear from you again ...say hello to your dad for us ,hope he is well.
You must be plum worn out.

Frank sorry about the Robbie Burns thing just joking, the Oh best mate is a scotsman, good bloke but very hard to understand .
He hates to part with money too.

Josie if you need a hand just ask we are all only to happy to help.
Russ can be a bit of a mouth at times I agree, will listen for the acsent when I get to see his movie Robin Hood .
Knowing me it will be when the video comes out.

Well I am off to do some more searching this time on my own tree.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Hi all

it was raining earlier, but now seems to be clearing up .... and sun is promised for at least the next 3 days.

Which is a change ....... Monday is a Bank Holiday

The Monday before May 24 is celebrated in most of Canada as Victoria Day (not celebrated in Quebec for obvious reasons!!).

we all know that May 24th was Queen Viccie's birthday don't we??

The May holiday is regarded as the beginning of summer ...... it is also the day iin most of Canada where people start planting/seeding their gardens because the possibilty of killing frosts is largely gone.

Vancouver is different of course ..... OH usually plants his veggie garden in ealry April. This year he was trenching the veggie patch in February, and had the potatoes in by early March!

Josie .............. I get the same thing re maintenance on sites as you. Which relaly bugs me as ancestry is in the US, and Utah is only 1 hour (I think it's 1) time difference from here!

Lovely to see Catherine popping in and out.

off to get my lunchtime sandwich, and then for a mooch around

I knew it! I just knew it! As soon as I heard about that microbe thing and what they were going to call it....I knew JUST who would mention it. I wasn't wrong either.

Ah, but there can never be two of me can there????

FRANK06

FRANK06 Report 21 May 2010 19:38

Did you see that proffessor who has changed the way a microbe reacts by changing it's genome has called it Synthia......

A synthetic Cynthia!!!

Nothing personal dear, as they say up here "they couldn't knit you !"

Just popped in to say hello and I see there's going to be a party! Must have a read and see what we'll be celebrating.

My daughter's home at the moment so I haven't had much time. I don't know if it's not one thing it's another. Then I'm off back to England on Tuesday to see our Dad so won't be around for a week then, so hope I don't miss the party.

Love and kisses to all!

I'm here, too but we are now having the landing ceiling repaired - i.e. re-plastered and then painted. (We had a serious overflow from the cold water tank, thanks to the people who put in the extra loft insulation!)

Sylvia, do hope you're now having some improvement to you leg - the sedan chair sounds like a good idea for you - much better than a wheelbarrow! Sue, hope things are improving for you, too.

We went to lunch with very old friend who spends most of his life in Thailand - banking and all that goes with it! He is one of those friends who makes the day seem so much sunnier and happier - a great treat for us all.

Cynthia,I will be looking forward to your party - what shall I bring? Have chosen my "historical character" already!

Josie, I heard that interview re Russ - my OH went to see Robin Hood on Monday and he says yes, Russ did sound like an Irishman! OH enjoyed it nevertheless. I liked Russ in LA Confidential -a very enjoyable film. The last one we saw together was Ghost.

Hope to see you all at Cynthia's party - a week or so after that we shall be off to Sussex for a few days.

Take care, everyone, and love,

R

Just a flying visit -

Poor Josie - if it was a weekend I would offer to look for you - but can't when I am in the office. Have you decided who you are going to be at Cynthia's party yet Josie? Looking forward to the Pavlova - we have a wild time at our parties.

Cynthia - have you PM'd Wayne about the party? He needs to get his flight plan logged. Evelyn has gone very quiet - wonder what she is plotting for us.

Have to dash as had a trip to the Garden Centre over lunch to get S in L birthday pressie - we are off to Thorpe bay tomorrow - so will be computerless for 24 hours - I do get withdrawl symptoms

Back to the grindstone - have fun everyone

Take care - will touch base with you all on Sunday (buzz word of the week)

Hi Cynthia I am here do not despair!!

Was having a very productive time on Family Search going through the IGI records and finding my 4x and 5x great uncles and aunts on my Grandfather's
Paternal side. That was until A message popped up to inform me that Family Search was now under going maintenance.

This is the one dis advantage of living in the Southern hemisphere, all the Major Geneology sites are in the northern hemisphere and they of course undergo their maintenance in the early hours of the morning, which is unfortunetly daytime or evening here.

So will go and watch myself a DVD snuggled up in my bed. It is a very COLD night here.

Frank has the OH banned you from the computer,? haven't seen much of you here of late. Or are you resting up for Cynthia's Party?

Sorry to hear about the Mother in law problems Susan. I am lucky that my In-laws died 20 years ago.

In regards to Russ
I heard an interview he did the other day about Robin Hood and the Northern English Interviewer accused Russ of having an Irish accent instead of an English one,
amazingly Russ was quite restrained in his reply to the interviewer, only suggesting that he get his hearing checked!!

Off to my warm bed catch you all later Josie

Oh what a beautiful daaaaaaaay.

Morning folks. Where've you all gone?

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 20 May 2010 22:15

That is SO disappointing Sylvia....we were really looking forward to your version of the can can .....:))

Have spent this morning in a meeting to do with Adult services for those with autism. Really hoping that something will come of it. It seems very positive at the moment.

Managed to persuade OH to visit a garden centre today - he has to be in the mood - and we came home with strawberry, gooseberry, onion, tomato, carrot seeds/plants so I am very pleased. This should keep him out of mischief for a while. Our runner beans are in and sprouting nicely. Oh goody, summer is nearly here.

Hope your leg is much better tomorrow Sylvia - keep up the ice and keep climbing the walls! lol

Night all. Cx.

hi all

rest, ice, legs up against the wall above the bed head 3 times a day

Sue ...... keep your chin up! You can always blow your top on here .... or email me if you want!

I was the reverse .......... ma-in-law thought I was great for the first 15 years or so, then her husband died, and I replaced him as the scapegoat for everything that went (or had gone) wrong in her life. We learnt what a rotten life pa-i-l had led for almost 50 years. She even told OH at least twice that he should divorce me as I was no good, and was only after her money!

the wind is still blowing, but it is fine at the moment.

C....................... I doubt I will be doing the can-can at your party

:))))))))))))))
