Hi folks.

Sorry you didn't find it funny Robert. A bit feeble I know;-((

I'll look forward to the low-fat yogurt Tabitha. I'm fussy I know but no "bits" in it please.

I was telling my son about our planned get together and started singing "Let's get this party started". He promptly informed me it is a song about drug taking. You could have knocked me down with a feather. He asked what did you THINK "I'm coming up" meant? Well, if I thought about it at all I suppose I would have thought up the road, the drive, the staircase whatever. Certainly not that it meant getting high. Am I alone in my naivete here?

Shouldn't think there'll be much of that going on tomorrow where we are.

Any idea of the time it is all going to start? Bit difficult with a global network I suppose.

See you all tomorrow I hope.

Jeanie

Tabitha, The joke is as old as I am(ancient) and not funny anymore.

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 28 May 2010 14:14

What can I say? Not a lot actually Frank; got myself in a tangle in the middle of the duvet cover - had better get my children in to rescue me!!

Reece, do hope your OH is soon feeling stronger today and it will be lovely to see you at the party. You must take something home for him to enjoy.

Poor Sue, how horrible for you to have another migraine. Hopefully you'll be able to be with us - I can see the quiet room is going to be filling up fast.

Each time Josie or Sue mention their 'pot belly', I find myself breathing in :))

The promised offerings of food sound wonderful and I am really grateful to you all. Better get a few pretty decorations up I think.

Mustn't neglect my duties on here.

Tabitha

Tabitha Report 28 May 2010 12:52

Susan - hope you are feeling better - you need to be well for the party - promise no red wine or cheese in your direction

Jeanie - i got the joke even if Robert didn't - you have to allow a little for his venerable age -

Would say we have a very good age range here - with a few more in the over 70's now - also 1 or 2 in the 60's - a few in the 50's and 1 or 2 in the 40's - its a very good mix.

Reece - Hope the OH is better - send him my love & good wishes for a very speedy recovery.

Anyone else discussing food - Frank did you take up on my idea for Raspberries or do you want me to make it ?
Jeanie will do a low fat one for you, Reece (if i remember correctly) & Frank - 2 sorts one low fat & one full fat so everyone can join in.

Will add my info tomorrow on the guess the person trail - not sure what time i can pop in - but will keep the barbie warm - anyone heard from Wayne? Is he going to do a fly past for us?

Evelyn what time plane/train are you - may meet you at the station - we can watch Josie arrive on the Northern Belle if she has recovered from frostbite.

Robert can recommend a good shell transporting company or is Frank giving you a lift on his way down as he is our chief of transport these days.

Sylvia how was the squish this time - i have another 2 years before my next one - can't wait !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cynthia - Curtains & Duvet look lovely - look forward to seeing them in place instead of on your person.

just for info I am a Libran - can't make a decision to save my life - it takes so long to sort things out - however my OH same birthday different year - also a Libran (of course he is - being stupid now) can make decisions with a snap of the finger - he is so different to me - very weird - must be to do with the 7 year age gap.

Off for a 1 to 1 with my manager now - he wants to go over my delvelopment plan - apparently we all need developing - what into i have no idea - so looking forward to it - i really am - does that sound convincing?

Take care all - see you all at the party

Sorry about your migraine Susan. If it's not completely gone by tomorrow you'll probably be best off in the quiet room.

No, no Jeanie,

I was actually talking about our Cynthia but I'm not sure how short she is, so it could have been a single, a double, or even a king size duvet...................perhaps made to measure ;)

Dozey Report 27 May 2010 23:19

Hi Folks.

Cynthia - I'll tell my sister tomorrow when we exchange mail. Small world isn't it?

As I've been so immersed in genealogy of late took it into my head to look up Melody's ancestry. Had already found out date of birth and that her parenthood was three quarters Australian bred and one quarter Irish. Have been on the Greyhound Breed Database which shows her line right back to 1820 on her father's branch to a dog called Pilot. All done in a couple of secs! Wouldn't give you searchers much of a chase would it - no thrill there.

So we've got a Virgin in the party! That's a bit of a surprise I must say. Don't die guessing.

Dim! You're not referring to my sister there are you? She's 5 ft nothing!

Jeanie

FRANK06

FRANK06 Report 27 May 2010 22:35

Make way for a middle aged Virgin!

Now then Cynthia,

Just because you are wearing your new duvet cover with matching curtains doesn't give you the right to throw your weight around here although I'm sure they fit perfectly......
Mind you I'd thought that a small dim one from Daubhill, would have tried to lead a quiet life ;))

Don't worry Robert, I'll give you safe passage to your shell.

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 27 May 2010 20:36

You're coming out before then m'lad - Saturday - we want you there!

Daubhill? Believe it or not I used to live in Daubhill when I was very small - unfortunately my memories are dim so not much use I am afraid. I tend only to go into the town centre these days - not a bad shopping area really.

Went to our local 'outlet' garden centre yesterday to the shoe part so that OH could look to see if there was anything he wanted. Ended up with new duvet cover and curtains! Not bad eh? No shoes. Spent all afternoon ironing them and putting them up - they look very nice too.

Has Frank gone walkabout then? Maybe taken the sporran for a stroll.

You are but a mere youngster and I am a staid old Capricornian!!

Dozey

Dozey Report 27 May 2010 18:25

My, what a lot of comments to catch up. That will teach me to be away from the board so long.

Kiwibird. Sorry to hear about the position of your computer. Know how you feel - mine is in my north facing bedroom. Always chilly even when the sun is blazing in on the other side of the bungalow. Take it the Potbelly is a stove - not a pig. Surprised about state of insulation & double glazing (or lack of it) in NZ. Thought you would be well sorted out there.

Sylvia. I've only attended one graduation ceremony. My daughter's - mature student she was. Wish you could attach photos to the thread. Extremely proud of her in her cap and gown.

Hi to Venerable Robert. Do not know how old you are but I'm not coy about my age. 74 in August. Probably one of the oldest on this thread I would think. Who just said bossy Leo???

Tabitha. My elderly greyhound is a brindle - been down to Southampton today to collect his special diet and meds. Beginning to get the wobbles in his back legs. He'll walk and he'll lie down but I cannot stand and talk to people for long - he starts shaking poor old boy. I know all about tall greyhounds and their long noses. Ceilidh was my first and it took me a while to realise why food was disappearing from worktops - but she was absolutely gorgeous. Lost her some years ago now but still miss her. Melody, Ceilidh's replacement, had her 7th birthday at the weekend and laugh if you will but she wore her fancy pink collar for the day.

I'll have to stay away from the Channel Island cream. Wonderful I know but I'm on a low fat diet (high cholesterol you see). Clothes are hanging on me now.

Cynthia. Remembered to ask my sister. She said "The area is Middle Hulton, but she might know Daubhill better which is just over the lights" and she says there is a nickname for it - which I will not repeat here.

I hope there isn't going to be some clever clogs at the party who will guess who we are before we can drop all our hints.

Reece,

Glad you enjoyed your stay in this part of the Country - it has some interesting areas.

Actually, I was coming to the Party as the Venerable Bede but since you have seen my tomb, it makes it a wee bit difficult.

Reece

Reece Report 27 May 2010 14:32

Hope all is going well for squishes, freezers (mechanical!), graduates and all.......

Dear OH not too well and back to Barts (day patient) but we hope some strong antibiotics might help. His immune system is working and fighting back so that is good news.

He urges me to pop in on Saturday, Cynthia, so I look forward to seeing you all then. May I sit quietly with Robert (and his shell) as I think we may be of a similar age! I can tell him how beautiful Teesdale looked and the wondereful falls called High Force with most interesting rock formation in the valley. Also the Bowes Museum and the Oriental Department of Durham University and the tomb of the Venerable Bede!

Will wait and see what the weather is doing before deciding on the costume, although I have picked my character (real) from history to tease you all.

The food sounds delicious so look forward to Saturday.

Love,

R

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 27 May 2010 14:15

Well, I'm glad we got the squishes sorted out!!

Poor Josie freezing cold as she sits there. At least our summer seems to be on the way albeit hesitantly. Sunny but chilly today.

That journey sounds interesting too - I love trains but rarely go on them these days.

Of course you may bring your shell Robert - I'll make sure it's in a nice quiet corner where you may see without being seen - is that okay?

Anne, we'll just do the clues on Saturday as and when we get on here...it's nothing too serious, just a bit of fun but I think we will have to watch that Frank - I bet he's cooking up something too clever for words!!

Going for a browse. Cx.

Tabitha

Tabitha Report 27 May 2010 13:59

Robert - you have to be out of your Shell on Saturday - we need you to be at the party - if you ask Cynthia nicely - she may let you bring the shell with you. She is going to have a quiet room for you, not that Evelyn will need it - look what happened the last time.

Josie - sounds like an interesting journey - its a bit squashed on the Orient Express & you have to share a bathroom. Watch out for the night of the long knives on board!!!!!!!!!!!! You can do the Orient Express all the way - its the Northern Belle once you cross the channel & beautiful very 1930's.

Had a few very busy days (no lunch hour) & its so cold here some of us are sitting in coats. Had a lovely surprise a greatful customer has sent me a present from Karachi - its a lovely pale blue scarfe - 100% pure cashmere - ideal for the iceberg we sit inside. Just going to send him a thank you message.

Cynthia - promise i won't bring the iceberg with me.

Made me feel really hungry Sylvia - i do love a good fry up - How about a Barbie on Saturday Cynthia - I could do a nice brunch for us all with some of my muffins. The local Taj has some fantastic sweetcorn still wrapped in its leaves - lovely on a barbie with flavoured butter - I will make some up - we could do some BBQ bananas as well - with Evelyn's lovely Channel island cream.

Gosh its all going to be fantastic - all coming together nicely - how about some Cranachan Frank with all those lovely fresh raspberries around now - its lovely with some Dalwhinnie in it - even better with Evelyn's cream - it would go nice with the bananas as well.

I miss my doggies still after all these years - we use to dog share a Greyhound - we had visiting rites - he was a very tall brindle called Charlie - i wasn't use to having a dog around who was so tall & had a long pointed nose - it managed to get everywhere. We live near a horse racing stadium & Charlie use to live with horses - so he loved walking around up there - trouble is he slipped his collar & made for the manure heap - boy did he have a good roll before we got to him.

And on that note I should go back to work.

Will try & look in tomorrow - is it clue time tomorrow as I need to get mine done? Not sure which one to chose.

Take care all - hope the squish went well
