it was a lovely sunny day today

What a change!!

we might get summer starting next Monday!!

Sometimes I wonder whether I come over a little harsh to others ............ especially in one or two postings I have done recently

In my defense I will say that those postings were made on threads by 2 people who in the last month or so have posted a number of threads asking for births or marriages, and occasionally deaths, that they could quite easily find for themselves on freebmd.

After all ......... helpers have found the information in less than a minute on several occasions!

...... and they have been told so, have been given directions to that site, and have been coached in using the site ... by several people, not just me.

One of them starts 3 or 4 threads each night, several times a week.

.......... he just ignores any comment about looking up the information himself.

I think he is just too plain lazy to do his own searching!

Party in Weymouth sounds great. I've never been there ..... but I will be, as long as we are in town.

Hello Everyone
I am very sorry Reece to hear about your OH my thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Hi Anne, like Robert asked , I am interested as to how you came up with who he was, mainly because I must be dim and could make nothing from the few remarks Robert made during and after the party as to who he was.

Well the sun is shinning, the first fine day, be it that it is only 12 cel here that we have had in 2 weeks.
And we are in for 2 more days fine weather
So not bad for my 4 day long weekend.

I was absolutely stunned to see on the news last night about that man who went on a shooting rampage in the Lake district.
If they had said it was in the USA I would not have been surprised but a sleepy off the beaten track area in England seems so unbelievable.

I pray that none of your family or friends were victims of this awful situation.

I agree Susan that some people on this board forget that they were new once and are a tad rude.
I found some records on freeBmd for one newbie and when I came to post them found another member had found her one record on FBMD, but not for the person she asked about and then informed her, that there was plenty of free records out there and she should do her own research.

Of to make a cuppa tea.
Catch you all later Josie

Lovely to know that you keep in touch with us Sallie. Maybe there are others who read but don't post - please do, we are not exclusive and love to welcome new friends on board.

It's been gloriously hot here today. Sat for a while in the shade and decided to do something easy for tea which we could eat outside. Very pleasant indeed. Our plants are coming on well but it seems we may have a water shortage in a few weeks if we don't get some heavy rain. Itsn't it typical? Rains for ever a few months ago and yet we have a shortage. doh.

Tomorrow our electric is going off twice so I guess there must be some maintenance going on somewhere.

I trust you all have a good night and that Josie is recovering well. Lots of love to Reece and her OH - were still thinking about you.

Night all. Cx.

Waves back to Cynthia, nice to hear from you. Hope all is well with you and your family. I read this thread most days, but don't post, I'm just so sorry to hear about Reece's hubby, I really hope and prayer that they'll get rid of it once and for all, this time.

Susan, I hope Jayden is doing well and that his skin will soon be fully healed. Sorry to hear that you are having such cold weather, if it's as cold as it was here at the beginning of the year, then you certainly have my sympathy.

Speak to you all soon.

Love, Sallie xx

Hi Everyone

Goodmorning from a wet and windy Wa.

It poored down overnight kept me awake it was that heavy.

Reece ..All my love and positive thoughts are with you and your family,It is a difficult time for all of you, there are a lot of prayers coming your families way.
You have a lot of friends on here if you ever need a lift up.

I am so glad we went out getting all the wood we did early as we can now not worry how much we use,it really is very cold.

I helped out on the boards last night, one new member did the worst and put her request on three boards at the same time .

She got chatted about it by another member ,I agree she did wrong but they should use a bit of tact when telling her she did wrong ,some of the members are going overboard to being rude.

I try to remember I was new once and how hard it was to undrestand how the boards work.

Well I am off to do the housework.....boring.

Sorry to be so late calling in today but have had visitors from down south! My cousin and his wife and their two boys have spent the day with us. Took us out to lunch and came back here until just now.

Dear Reece, so sorry about your news but take heart. You both know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers. Do keep us posted as to his progress.

Evelyn, you always seem to doing something but you have reminded me that I must make a card for my grandson's birthday next week.

Glad to know that you are feeling better Josie but don't go overdoing things ... take it nice and steady. The soup obviously worked!

Jeannie, I once remember reading a Maureen Lipman book years ago and was absolutely hysterical at some of it. Just so funny.

Going for a browse but I can't see I'll be messaging many tonight!

Hello dear friends,

Cynthia, the party was lovely and thanks to everyone for such delicious food. I guessed your Josephine Josie but no one elses! Thought Evelyn was Bing Crosby! Didn't read her clues properly.

I'm very sad to say that dear OH's AML has returned and he is to have more chemotherapy treatment. It has been caught(?) in the very early stages but it will be difficult for some four months with a three week break in the middle.
It is just over the year since the first diagnosis and hospital stays for treatment. He did so very well over the year that it did seem to good to be true.

Have just cancelled our proposed trip to Sussex but we hope to go to the family in Dorset in July in between the two lots of treatments. But it was lovely to have had such a happy time up in Teesdale.

Hope Josie is better soon and Sue go easy on the wood collecting! Evelyn had my passport photo done with my glasses on! Canada is very strict Sylvia and I don't know what they do in Oz these days re glasses or not. Will ask.

Glad you got home OK Robert - what an experience - wonder how Frank is - hope the baby shower didn't exhaust him completely.

All for now, I'll pop in when I can to see you all.

Love and best wishes.

Hi Evelyn

Nah - don't have a problem buying presents for my OH. Gave him the order of the boot years ago - in fact quite soon after we had a holiday in Weymouth! Will be great to visit again for a party. Not sure how many miles from here to there but certainly less than I travelled last Saturday.

Hi all

it's raining VERY hard at the moment! And it is chilly ..... the heating is on again.

It's supposed to be summer!

Evelyn ....... Canadian rules for passport photos for the last 6 or 7 years have been NO GLASSES. So even if you always wear glasses, you have to take them off for the photo that is your main ID! Makes no sense to me ..... 'cos people can look very different without their glasses. BUT it does stop that reflection.

I always hate photos of me .......... I can't believe that I look like that!!

Josie ......... I can assure you will be missed, even though we can all talk till the cows come home. We keep track you know!

I'm knackered! The university graduation ceremonies are on, and the Presidsent holds 2 Receptions for people who received Honorary degrees. I missed the one last week, but felt pretty good yeaterday, so I went with OH. It was fun, I enjoyed it, and met some really neat people (as well as friends) ........ but had to stand for about 2 hours. Boy, am I paying for it today!

I wonder if Frank got completely overwhelmed at the Baby Shower? Do hope that he is OK.

Any of you get that email saying GR is now carrying lots of new records .... including the 1881? Which you can access for free elsewhere!

off for a stroll around the boards

Good afternoon my friends,
well what a busy morning we had, I managed to keep Ron awake, we had our passport photo,s taken, the photographer always seems to have a problem taking mine, my glasses seem to play havoc with the cameras, I am VERY long sighted and the perscription of my glasses is not camera friendly he tells me, even suggested at one stage that I borrowd Rons glasses to see if that would improve things, anyway somehow he managed to get a likeness of me, not very flattering I might add, still I am no raging beauty so what should I expect.
Now to fill in the applications for renewing the passports(guess who,s job that will be).
Jeannie, about our birthdays, I was brought up in Weymouth Dorset and havent been back for ages what say we have a joint party there.
There does seem to be conflict between Jersey and Guernsey but I dont mind, I dont belong to either island, I only live here, if I had to chose an island for a holiday I would pick Jersey everytime, there is not a lot to do in Guernsey unless you like the beach or walking but I must say that the Guernsey people are wonderful, so friendly.
It will be Rons birthday on Sunday, I shall buy him a watch as he is always moaning about the 2 he already has, do you all have problems buying gifts for your other halves.
Now I am going to make a card for Rons birthday but I will pop in again soon
Love to you all

Good morning Kiwibird

Glad to hear you are feeling better. If it's chicken soup that's the answer I'll have problems if I get flu. Cannot stand the stuff.

Hope the weather has improved somewhat. Heard direct from my correspondent in NZ and she was telling me what dreadful weather she was having. Could tell tell her I knew already courtesy of Josie!

Wrap up warm anyway

Hiya Folks

I've been keeping a bit of a low profile I know - for all sorts of reasons, aggravations, googling my Community name and not liking how much I could see on there (including the fact there is a doppelganger on Yahoo and Bid Frenzy - who is even less security conscious than I am), MOT test, watching a video as ordered by son - Ricky Gervaise - enjoyed it but should have been doing other things of course and tonight lots on telly I wanted to watch. In fact, I'm going to be feet up in front of telly a lot this week (bit of an addict at times I'm afraid). Sure I will not be too missed as you all find plenty to chat about and I get a laugh or two skipping through it all when I pop in.

Bit surprised tonight by the thread at the top of my list. Wondered where it had come from - then discovered some scallywag had changed the title. Thought I had really lost my marbles for a moment.

Tabitha - mine is on Sunday 1st. Would that be a suitable date? Do not mind where the venue is - as long it is not here! I'd have far too much to do to make the place presentable and I'm better at administration than cooking so couldn't provide anything like the wonderful spread at Cynthia's.

I would have liked to have gone to Guernsey (I've only been to Jersey - and loved it). Know there is some rivalry between the two islands. Hope Evelyn will forgive me. Sure she will think I picked the wrong one to visit.

Will shuffle away now to do my usual late night duty of seeing if anything needs nudging up. Then I'm switching off. Just a few pages of the Maureen Lipman book I'm reading and I'll be away in the land of nod.

Night everyone
