Hi folks

Well you are all seeming to have a pretty good time on the whole. Was sorry to hear about the Kevin Rudd business Susan. Thought he seemed a pretty nice fellow as politicians go.

Glad your house is all clean and sparkly Cynthia and that you had the pleasure of entertaining an old friend. Hope second trip to the Flower Festival is as enjoyable as the first.

I'll second what Sylvia said. Great news Reece. Hope it continues.

Good to have you back Sylvia. Pleased the trip went well.

Would not support you slapping Cynthia. She has such problems getting through to people on how to get back to their threads.

I had made up my mind I would only pop on infrequently more or less just to nudge. Had spent so long on the computer the previous 2 days - mainly looking at what had been going on with the multiple personality person. Has she finally gone do you know? Then last night I just "popped" onto Ginny's thread and noticed Mr. N. Eedles. Being the nosy old thing that I am had to go and look. There went my good intentions. Trace is so funny. Took me ages to read it through my tears of laughter and I must have been on computer at least 3/4 hour.

Great news Reece!

We had a fun time .......................... stayed in a motel for 2 nights. On Wednesday we drove 2½ hours up to the cabin, checked the place out, no apparent winter damage, OH unloaded the generator and put it in its hidey-hole, and put some other stuff away, and I sat and supervised wherever I could

................. and yes, Frank, finding "holidays" in walls and ceilings being painted comes naturally :)))))

Had about 3 hours there, weather was quite nice, but then some huge black clouds appeared from behind the nearest mountain ...... so we beat a retreat, and drove 2½ hours back to the motel!

We left the motel about 10 am this morning, stopped and had lunch, and got home in mid-afternoon. Didn't hurry, and so it was very restful.

The lowest temperature over the winter since last September had been -30C, and it had already reached +26C at least once since "spring" came. It was about 21C while we were there. So very pleasant.

I seem to be spending this evening reading up on all I've missed!

Oh yes, ............. ti seems that I owe a certain person C a slap?!

Lovely to hear your good news Reece - long may it continue. I am sure the break in Dorset will do you both good.

Going back to help out at the Flower Festival tomorrow - just to do our bit if you know what I mean.

Still not heard from Josie have we? Hi Josie, are you ok?

Just browsing now. Cx

Oh dear Cynthia - I thought the word 'i**n or ir****g was banned on this thread! What are you intending to do with it when you find it?

Flower festival sounds great - they are always lovely.

OH didn't need a blood transfusion today - good news for him as blood count was excellent. Feeling less anxious about it now and we're planning to go to Dorset in July to see the dear little grandaughters. They and parents are going off to Cornwall and then to France during the school holidays.

Australia now has a woman Prime Minister (for a few months, anyway!) born in Wales and her deputy is named Wayne! Can't be our Wayne can it?

Sue, I was very interested in your mentioning Toodyay where your brother and s-i-l live. - I have a book called "To be Heirs Forever" by Mary Durack about the settlement of the Swan River in 1829 and the lives of the Shaw family there and in Toodyay. You most likely know this book published in the 1970's.

I have been looking at Rockingham and the Peel Settlement and trying to help another member with her search for a friend's family who arrived there in 1830.

Love to everyone,

R

Noticed on another thread that there has been an earthquake in Canada......don't tell me that our Sylvia has fallen over again???

I can say it whilst she isn't here to slap me ...... lol

Have just come back from a Flower Festival - incredible arrangements - very festive indeed. Must go and find the iron!

Back later. Cx

How nice for you to catch up with a friend of such long standing,it is so rare today .
Values today are not the same,I cherish my friends and try to help whenever I can.

We have had a big upset over in OZ our priminister was sacked today, I call it being stabed in the back .
He has done a good job keeping us out of going into resession like the rest of the world .

Thats Poitics for you.

Better get dinner on ,be back later.

What do you mean............"feel ancient"

Are you following in Bob Hope's footsteps.........

Your age is showing again Frank my friend.

Had a lovely time with my friend today....it must be almost 50 years of friendship. Good to catch up in the flesh so to speak and, I was able to proudly introduce my 2 wonderful grandkids to them. The lads all ended up watching the England match whilst my friend and I sat out side and talked...and talked....and....well, so unlike me.

The house is sparkly clean so I can relax for a few days.

I loved the Vicar of Dibley when it first started but think it lost something along the way. I can still laugh at it though. My grandkids have never heard of it which makes me feel ancient.

Ah well, my eyes are drooping after such a long day. See you tomorrow. Love. Cx.

Hi Everyone

Nice to hear from the men.

Robert that cave sound very cosy ,do you have TV?.
I don't think I coudl live without TV,I just put it on in the background when I am on my own and I do have a few shows I like.

We have really got into documentaries latley,we love that Bear Grills he is fantastic but I can't watch him eat the insects and animals that he does.
Time Team is another of our favorites,Antique show ,the list goes on.

We have only just started watching the Vicker of Dibley ,we just laugh and laugh at that show, one of the best.

Reece thankyou for your advice I shall pass that along to her,it will make her feel better, she is beginning to think it may never grow back, she had very strong hair befire so fingers crossed it comes back the same..

Jeannie I can say I have never broken a bone....I hope that has not put the mockers on me now and I go out and break a bone.

Well my friends I am off to bed, a fairly busy day .

Suex

EDITE ;

Hi Folks,

Glad to see you have all been very active (apart from those with personal problems) while I have been away.

The cave was ideally situated between the Funlcular Railway top station and the current snow base - just me and the wildlife!!

Of course I took a plentiful supply of Scotch pies, Scotch dumpling, had some freshly caught haggis and of course a liberal supply of Single Malt Whiskies.

Yes Frank, the cave is free for the next 2 to 3 weeks.

Getting the Shell ready for the weekend.

Hey Cynthia,

That is a long friendship and it's lovely when you can meet up and talk of long forgotten occurences that made your young lives so special,
...........can you actually remember back that far ;)

That's me just in after an evening painting at my daughter's place but it's looking lovely......well worth the effort.
Mind you, she of the little bump was constantly checking up on us and pointing out little bits we had missed......is that just a knack with women or do you have to learn it ?

Back over at the weekend for bathroom tiling, grouting, plumbing and electrics.

Robert, any room in that cave.................

Yes Cynthia, zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sue, it seems so funny to read of cold days and comforting stews for tea when here we are sweltering and thinking of light meals and salads.

Good to see you Anne - hope your dongle didn't cost too much!!

Haven't heard from Josie for a while and don't know if Robert is back from his cave yet. Do hope they both call in soon.

Reece, so glad that your dear OH is holding up well. Please continue to give him our very good wishes. Our little patio is all a'bloom too. There are a few green strawberries but we hope for the best. Looks like something nasty has attacked one of our runner bean plants because it's all shrivelled up and dead poor thing.

I'm looking forward to seeing my friend from the States tomorrow. We have known each other since we were about 14 - so quite a long friendship - what do you think Frank??

Have washed my kitchen floor in readiness and will dust and hoover in the morning. Must take OH for his annual blood test thingey tomorrow though...an early start to get it over with. Had fish tonight in the hope of bringing his cholesterol reading down!!!! lol

Love to all. Cx

Hello to everyone,

Just finished watering the pots - nicotiana, cosmos verbena, bidens and the honeysuckle is covered in flowers all ready to burst with scent now this hot weather has finally arrived.

Sylvia, sorry to learn of your mishap and hope you are on the mend now. Enjoy your trip up to the cabin but be careful!

Susan - all good wishes for your s-i-l and so far as hair growing back, it took about 3 months for Peter's hair to grow back last year, following his chemotherapy. It was very curly, as before and the barber decided to cut most of the curls out - time for a new barber I think. OH did say it was someone he hadn't seen before.

He is holding up well but gets very tired very easily. Has to go to Barts twice and sometimes three times a week and is to have a blood transfusion this Thursday. They are pleased with his progress which is good as he is responding well to the treatment. He is having a great time watching all the sport on television this last week.

One of our oldest friends is again in hospital as she was transferred there at the weekend. She is doing well but it is going to be at least 6 weeks before any improvement - lots of physiotherapy and it was good to see her today more like her old self, albeit in bed!

Frank - what a way to spend Fathers Day! Your daughter and s-i-l will sing your praises to all their friends! Then you might have a "second" job offer.

Anne have a great time - it is wonderful for you to have a break from work - enjoy your Anniversary and all good wishes for you both. Were the Outlaws thrilled with the telegram from HM? There's one tucked away somewhere here from HM to my in-laws on their 60th. It is a very nice gesture.

Robert - back from the Cairngorms? Hope you had a lovely time.

Hope to see Evelyn, Josie, Jeanie and where are you Fanny BG? Hope you're all well.

Enough for now - love to everyone,

R

Evening all - quick visit as the dongle costs money

Sylvia take more water with it - hope you feel better soon

Susan glad the trip went well - hope her hair grows back quickly

Evelyn - good to have you back - I liked William Holden as well

Jeanie - how are the Greyhounds? Well done to your friend

Its been soooooooooooooooooooooo hot today and hotter this morning - summer is on its way - its all looking very brown on the grass front - makes a change to hear cold winter stories from the other side of the world.

Frank - keep up the good work - hope you had a good rest after all your hard work - bump must be quite big now only a few more weeks to go.

Had a lovely day yesterday in Dover for the 65th wedding anniversary - the telegram from the queen arrived and the flowers came today.

Wonder what they will do for ours on Thursday.

Well will wonder off as costing a fortune as I type

Take care all - hope Josie and Robert are ok
