Hi Everyone

We are all still here anne just the time difference.

I deleted the other thread after having a chat with the others .it would not be fair to keep both going and we are always glad if we can get the original back.

I don't know about the sticked thingo, can't see that going down well,I might put it to everyone if we would let Genes know we would like it to roll around the boards the same as everyone else.

Don't want to make waves.

It has been very cold here, raining too we should get the water catchment ares filled this winter.

Going to see the Brother and Sister In Law on Saturday will be back Sunday.
She is starting to pick up now and eat a bit more,I think her hair may start to grow if she eats more food.

It is tax time here ,end of Financial year,I hate this time .
My eyes are not as good as they used to be,start seeing double after a few invioces.
I don't trust the computer for my books ,all done in an old fashioned ledger in pencil just incase I make a mistake.

Well Iam off to bed .
Lovely to here from you Everlyn and Anne
See you all tomorrow.

OK - NOW REALLY CONFUSED - lost - found it - added to both then lost the 2nd one - I give up its easier to just be at work head down etc.

Cynthia - apologies - I seem to have missed you anniversary - congratulations

Evelyn - Also congratulations - hope my 2nd gets as far as yours

Worked out if we manage to get our 2nd wedding to 39 years - I will be 77 and John will be 84 - so we are in with a chance we may even get to our 50th at this rate - what about you Evelyn?

I just had an email from our friend Debbie - she would love to hear from you all again.

As you will remember she was having a lot of GR problems with access - now her membership has expired - She is still having access problems - but would like GR to re-imburse her for 5 months she couldn't get in. So she is having a bit of a dispute & cannot join us here.

Cynthia - she would like you to send her an email as she has a few things she would like to ask you about.

If anyone else would like Debbies email address let em know & I will send a PM

Well off back to work now - WILL YOU ALL STILL BE HERE ON THIS THREAD WHEN I POP BACK IN AGAIN?

Its a bit Dr Whoish this thread - we seem to be going through some sort of time warp or something

Take care all

Cynthia

Well.......where have you all gone? Bermuda Triangle Day I take it....lol

Going grey here, hopefully we will get some rain to help fill our reservoirs which would put pay to the proposed hosepipe ban.

Off to a meeting shortly but back later. Love. Cx

Hi SRS

I too asked of the members of this thread about that very thing.
(see post page 40) but at present we are just so pleased it is back.

I think Genes are possibley sticking it so it won't delete again as they said to me in an Email it appears to be a technical hitch that deleted it in the first place but who knows.

.........ahh SRS, but who can fathom the workings of GR at the best of times??? I cannot understand why Heather Posi's tips haven't been stickied for ages, but....???

I personally wonder if the thread was deleted by GR simply because another member had a moan about it. When GR realised that we are not going to be browbeaten and that the tips were helpful and the thread was, indeed, a pleasant one, they reinstated it. It may be that they have stickied it for a while as a gesture of goodwill and I am prepared to think of it as such. I like to think of the postive side of these things rather than of the negative reasons.

Ah well, must get my beloved some lunch - wouldn't do to upset the apple cart after 42 years would it....lol

Hello :) Don't get me wrong, but I find it a bit odd that they've stickied this thread when they've removed stickied tips threads from the past which were ahem more genealogical and full of more tips. (no offence intended as i know you chat to help prevent it sinking down the pages)

If they were going to sticky a tips threads in my opinion, it should be just that- full of useful tips such as your initial post (and also a few from others threads) that people have come up with and then it should be locked to prevent further additions (unless authorised). This seems to work successfully on other sites.

This is not a go at anyone on here :))))), I just find GR's decision on this particular thread a bit odd that is all.

Good morning everyone. Goodness - all this excitement must be getting to me. Slept until gone 9.00 this morning. That's a once in a blue moon occurrence.

Guess I was being a little over cautious about being stickied. Suggest we forget about it and continue as we were.

Everybody happy?

Hi Everyone,
What a wonderful surprise to find not only our no3 thread , but to find it stickered to the top as well.

Being the last person to post on this thread then finding the whole thing deleted less than an hour later,
it is with relief that it was nothing I had said.

Thanks Anne for rubbing it in.....
In the last 30 days the sun has only shone on 4 days, it has rained the rest of the time and the Temp has been between 8C and 12C.

Happy Anniversary Cynthia.

Going to take my Arthritic Knees and warm them in front of the Heater.
Catch you all later. Josie

Cynthia Report 30 Jun 2010 09:17

Well Fanny by Gaslight......nice to see you posting on here - you obviously feel comfortable in the midst of the old fogies then????? You fit in with us very well I think.

Robert, please don't worry about me, I have managed to not only get off my knees but also to stand up straight! How near the sea is your little shell as I love the sound of the waves on the sand and find it very theraputic.

Sue, I am sure those hints of yours will help people - and I, for one, am quite happy for it to stay stickied. There is also another thread of tips by Heather Posi which I occasionally nudge up in the hope of helping new folk. The more who read these various tips, then the less messages I will need to send out!!

Jeannie, I too find that message from GR rather strange. I actually sent them a message querying the deletion asking why it had happened etc. I received a similar reply to the one received by Frank and so I immediately stated that it didn't seem very good business practice etc. when I next looked, it was back!

Housework and grandchildren. Son and his wife are going to the funeral of her cousin's wife who committed suicide a couple of weeks ago. So, very sad for her whole family.

Must go and dust the bedrooms before Arthuritis catches me!!

Love to all.

Hi Everyone

Just recieved message from Genes.

Dear Susan

Thanks for your email

I am sorry for the delay in replying. As you are aware we have now reinstated your thread. It looks like it's removal was a technical glitch, it had not been reported as abusive. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Best regards,

Rachel

So it looks like a tech thing afterall,I wonder if someone has worked out how to delete a thread on here.

So shall we stop it being Sticked.

Hi Everyone

I am so pleased we are back on this one .
It vindicates us that we did nothing wrong....I am not so sure about the sticky thingy though I think we may upset even more people .

What do you all think about me telling Genes maybe we should roll up and down the boards the same as everyone else and to unstick us.

I will leave it up to you all.

Jeannie I was the same as you, once the thread was gone I thought it was gone for good.
Maybe it was a mistake on there part,I have not had any messages from them.
You have a point on the sticking by the way, time will tell.

Going to do some housework be back later.
Love to everyone

Hi Robert

As it was the venerable you - consider yourself forgiven. I think I'm catching up on your old age - geting older by the minute.

Yes, Cyn - stickied. Now it has occurred to me that can be taken one of two ways. Either we approve of this thread and your can carry on chatting OR it is being kept at the top of the board therefore you have no need to chat to keep it there. Comments please. Hope you and lucky OH had a really good day.

Thanks for posting that Frank. I was sure I had seen somewhere that they could not be reinstated. Can you believe anything you read nowadays???

Auntyritis - know her only too well Viv.

Well I agree - time we old fogies were in bed - so that's where I'm going.

Night all.

I get this feeling I have been here before, but not with a pin in me ,where did the pin come from??

But its GReat to see you all back in one piece.

Miracles do happen you see Cyn,you can get off those knees now.

Oh, you need a hand old girl??
One minute then.

Roberrrrrrrrrrt,Cyn needs a hand up,would you be a gentleman please,theres a good chap.

It her Arthurytis to blame you know.

Think her Arthuryritis may be related to my Auntyritis

Night all...

This is strange coming from GR at the beginning of this thread when the previous, previous thread was deleted......

Thank you for your email. If the thread has been removed I regret it cannot be reinstated. Genes Reunited would not remove the thread unless there were inappropriate comments or the message was unsuitable for the message board.

...........and yet it is back and there are no inappropriate comments to be seen?

Well, at least we are back until someone else moans about us again ;))

Stickied as well............

Hey Cynthia, should you not be in your bed now. It's geting late for you old fogies to be out.

Chris....you're right....we've been stickied!! Whatever next.....good for you Sue!! Let's just hope that new folk read it!

Sue just a thought though, it may be worthwhile adding to your original post that the tips are only on that first post in case people start scrolling through thinking that there are more tips available. Does that make sense??

Thank you for all your good wishes......where have the years gone?

Will try and finish a bit more messaging......Cx

It's my (very old) age....

Dozey Report 29 Jun 2010 20:31

Hi everyone

Just spent an interesting time looking back at the original thread and catching up on the posts I didn't see because of the deletion. Seems when something is restored after being deleted posts that were deleted are put back in:-))

Ann - Glad you enjoyed your trip but all that washing! Made me tired. Good that your bruises had nearly gone. How is the arm now? I know all about silent and deadlies but the current greyhounds hardly ever suffer in that respect I'm very pleased to say. In case you haven't seen it Evelyn's birthday is on Thursday 29th July and her party will be following weekend.

Cynthia. Doff my cap to your friend for not giving up on hers that went through a window. Have seen on TV programmes what wonderful things they can do for the injured animals nowadays but my word it must have cost her an arm and a leg.

Hope you are having success with your messaging and not getting any snooty replies.

Sylvia - I've got a ceiling fan attached to the main light. Unfortunately cannot use it. Tried to last year - threw the old boy into an absolute panic. Just keeping curtains closed on the sides where the sun is shining and opening all the windows on the opposite side. Still a bit like a sauna. Pity I cannot package some of it up and send it to Josie. As for water shortages think up north may have a hose pipe ban in place already.

You're right Josie - VAT going up to 20%. Not sure but do not think it will be this year and yes, to help the poorer members of society there is to be a rise in the Personal Allowance to compensate. Fat lot of good that will do me and probably most pensioners. Don't pay tax. Sorry - bit of a moan coming on here. Was persuaded to join two Company pensions - both on their advice that it would make my old age more comfortable. Could have done with more in my pocket at the time - but I paid in lots of my hard earned cash for a cost of living related pension. Guess what - both Companies now in liquidation and cost of living increases - haven't had one of those in years:-((

General comment: Strange that first post after restoration was deleted. Wonder what that was all about???

I take it that Susan has deleted No. 4 and we are all on this one. Glad about that. Hope this one will continue as it started out - friendly - and for the most part happy - except when the trials of life hit people and even then they must have taken comfort from the fact they had such good supportive friends on here.

Groundhog Day! Oh no, we haven't got to go through it all again have we Frank?

Jeanie

Edit: another deletion? I've been told by FBG that is BAD. It wasn't me. I now know to go in take out the offending bit - type Edit - and put something else in its place.
