Came out of my shell to see what was happening.

Is "our" Susan the same Susan who posted on CHAT board, "21 things you can only get away with saying on the 4th July" today?

Surely not!!

Hi Everyone

Got back about and hour ago,it is so cold in Perth .

We were very glad to get back to Busselton light our fire and I am just going to get into a nice hot bath.

Western Australia is getting very unseasonal cold weather ,breaking all records and I never thought I would say this but I wish Summer would come back.

Ginny welcome to our thread, sorry to hear they zapped yours for no reason I suspect.
I don't know why they sticked this one they have not told me but they did say sorry for deleteing the thread and put it back sticked.
They did say it was a tech problem and we were not reported for anything ,that made us feel better as we knew we did not do anything wrong on here.
I think they will probably unstick it when they think it will not delete itself again.

Evelyn, a very happy anniversary to you and yours and many more to come ,enjoy your special day..

Jeannie that sounds like a close shave and it is the same here in OZ men are the worst drivers ,they are always in a hurry.
When we came to the UK for our last holiday we hired a car and we were surprised at the speed you are allowed to drive on your motorways ,our freeways you are only allowed to do 110 klm per hour,I think that is about 60 miles an hour in your turms.

Frank nice to hear from you we have missed you,can you do elecrical work on your house yourself we are not allowed here you have to have a qualified electricion to do it ,or are you one .
You sound very handy to have around the place for all the odd jobs, your dau is a very lucky person.
We have to help the kids when we can don't we little sweethearts.

Well I am off for my bath check in later.
Nice to home.

Morning all

Sounds fun Frank - you must take with my OH - he has nearly re-wired this house since he moved in - dread to think what my mum was living with before then - wonder it didn't catch fire.

We had loops of electric cable lying about all over the attic floor.

Happy anniversary Evelyn

What a narrow escape Jeanie

I take is Robert is having a nice cool time in his shell as its so hot outside

Will pop back in later

We went to Canterbury yesterday - to do some more family tree work - just a short distance from Brighton only about 90 miles - on the way home we poped in to the In-laws in Southend - 90 miles away - then home to Brighton 90 miles - so all in all a 90 mile triangle. If anyone wants to google map it - we do strnage things like that all the time

Brighton - Canterbury - Southend-on-sea - Brighton quite logical really

See you all later

Ginny,

Welcome to our on-off-on-off-on-off-on thread but I'll have to disappoint you.
Contrary to Cynthia's above comment, my tame sporran is not called Ginny............not that there's anything wrong with Ginny of course, lovely name but our Cynthia does get a little mixed up at times.
She thinks that a sporran is a furry leather purse but it's actually to keep your kilt from blowing all over the place as you wouldn't want that ;)

Been at my daughter's again getting on with some more d-i-y in the bathroom and that's the electrics sorted.
It was quite simple.........fit new light which ended up taking me three hours !

No light when I arrived so swiched off fuse, fitted light and nothing.
Checked connections, switched on ....nothing.
Removed light fitting and replaced with single bulb on wire to check the workings ....nothing.
Removed old light switch and canibalised another old switch to check ....nothing.
Went to local diy shop to buy new pull switch, fitted....nothing.
Went into cupboard to look for drill and switched on light......nothing.

excuse my asking s-i-l, but ............is that circuit beaker at the end supposed to be off as well ........... dohhh !

Well, my s-i-l did take us out for dinner to make up for it :))

Back tomorrow to carry on the good work and we have ten days left until daughter is due.............no rush then!!!!!!!!!!

P.S Sylvia, sounds stunning.

Hi all

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY EVELYN
xxxxxx

Hope that you have a lovely lunch

Hi Ginny ..... nice to see you on here

Cloudy with sunny periods here, and about 18C, still below normal but pleasant.

We're off out later to a friend's Golden Wedding Celebration. We've known them since we came to Vancovuer ......... although OH knew of them both before.

L was the daughter of the Head of Department when he was teaching in Devon, but was already married by that time. I think he met her once on a trip she made back home. The husband was the son of a local farmer from near Chester, and again OH knew of P.

When we came to Vancouver, her parents told OH that we should contact L&P .................. and we found we had a lot in common. It's the kind of friendship where we might not see each other for a year, but pick up where we left off.

take care everyone

I have no idea how dressy it will be ........ but I've opted for my "usual" evening black skirt (maxi length, slit up the back), and a white dressy top. Plus diamante-type earrings.

Aye, we're a good lot on here Ginny. Mind you, there are some missing at the moment....where are our men, Frank and Robert? Frank has a tame sporran Ginny.

Been busy today what with shopping and things but nothing too exciting.

Big concerts are due to take place at the country park just behind us. Kathryn Jenkins is apparently performing on Wednesday and the roads are glowing bright yellow with all the traffic cones. Should be bliss then!!

Hope everyone is well. See you tomorrow. Love. Cx

Dozey Report 3 Jul 2010 11:26

Cynthia - yes indeed - I was quite shaken up by the close shave. Annoys me that men think women are bad drivers. I'd say most of the risk takers are the men. As to age - well I had a good giggle when a few years ago I went to pick my son up from work as his car was in for repair. He said his mum had arrived to take him home and some idiot asked in a very surprised voice "Does she still drive?" Well, at least that is something I can do at the same speed as I used to:-)))

Nothing springs to my mind as an anniversary present I'm afraid. Have problems choosing that sort of thing myself.

Sylvia - Robert posted on the restored thread on 29th - Page 40 - cos I just looked for it. Cannot remember seeing Reece.

Automatic vacuum cleaners - oh I do wish I could have one.

Hi Evelyn

Didn't expect to see you on here for a while. Delighted you are. I looked after someone's Yorkie for a fortnight once while they were on holiday. Hadn't thought much about them before. Chips was a great little chap. Such a spirited fellow. Got on great with the two I already had and so obedient - would come running back the minute I called him no matter how far away he was. His owners were absolutely dreadful. He came to me terribly matted - took me days to get him looking like the type of dog he was. They never took him out and really were not interested in him at all. I offered to take him over but they didn't want to know because I was not in a position to pay for him. Now that is sad I think.

I'm leaving the birthday party on the 31st July just for you. Taking a break from GR. Do hope you have a wonderful birthday.

Enjoy your day.

Evelyn Report 3 Jul 2010 09:59

Good morning everyone,
Another beautiful day here in Brittany.
A resident at the campsite has 4 Yorkshire terriers and I have volunteered to take them for a walk this morning, not my favourite breed of dog but one of them seems to have taken a liking to me, I dont think I will let them off the leash or I might loose one of them, I will probably walk them along the canal bank.
I have had a mooch around, there are people from all over the place on site, lots of people with touring caravans and motorhomes, not sure that I would be too keen on either of those I think I would feel claustaphobic, in our mobile we have nice high ceilings and its rather like a bungalow so I am fine in it.

We will of course be going out for lunch perhaps to somewhere special to celebrate our special day.
Cynthia I havent given much thought to the joint birthday party yet maybe my joint hostess and I ought to give it some thought in the near future as the date will creep up on us all too soon.
I am off for my walkies now so cheerio, take care everyone

Robovacuums have been available over here for some years ......... and I notice that they have dropped in price quite dramatically over the last year, and are also available in more stores.

Our very close friends have one that they use in their "cottage" .... they are both almost 80, and it saves them a lot of work.

They did have a built-in vac installed in that house when they built it ...... but the hosepipe was sooooooooooooooooo heavy!

It's where we stay when we go over to see them .... and always wash the sheets and towels, dust and vacuum before we leave. I haven't yet tried Robovac

Has anyone told Robert that thread no 3 returned and no 4 was deleted????

He did post pretty quickly on no 4 to let us know that he had been told where to find us.

Same for Reece

That must have been a close shave Jeannie! Men drivers hey? He maybe didn't realise he had that mirror!!

Well, another lot of ironing done and some curtains freshly washed and ironed - I love it when they're done.

Evelyn - I would do just the same as you.....mooch around to see what's going on - a bit like on here really!

Let us know how you want the birthday to go....what we are to bring etc.

I've just asked on Ginny's thread about ideas for my son's 14th wedding anniversary - it seems as though its represented by ivory, gold jewellery and dahlias. Any one on here any ideas of what I could look for. So far the colour cream has cropped up as well as some other thoughts. All ideas gratefully accepted.

All messaging done for today. So browsing around. Night dear friends.

Hello All,
We arrived safely in France yesterday evening, it is very hot here.
We have been out for lunch which was very enjoyable, must do the same tomorrow.
My sister in law (who is a florist) made me some beautiful floral arrangements for our veranda (an early birthday present) one of the arrangements hangs on the railings while the other just sits in its flower pot close to the door where I can see it from my seat inside,I feel very lucky.
I am looking forward to our joint birthday party in Weymouth, I think it will be on the 31st July which is the Saturday< not much fun having a party on a Thursday is there?.
I am now going for a mooch around the campsite, just to see who is around, wouldnt like you to think I am nosey.
Take care everyone.
Love to all

Hi everyone

Cynthia
Yes, I've had a busy morning - as you will see on Ginny's thread.

Also was a bit shaken up on my way back from Southampton. Filtering onto the M3 with a lorry chugging along a little way away in that lane but plenty of room for me to get in. Some idiot man in the outside lane pulled into the lane I was moving into to let someone overtake. Obviously didn't check his left hand mirror. I'd have given him one of Fanny's little waves of the hand if I hadn't been so busy trying to avoid him! As he considered his left wing mirror of no use he probably wouldn't have seen it anyway - would he?

Sue are you sure you meant 1886 - she must be the worlds oldest living person. Have a great time at the weekend - hope the weather holds out for you.

Sorry its so bad out your way Sylvia - happy Canada Day for yesterday.

Hope everyone is happy and will have a relaxing weekend - wonder if evelyn has landed in France yet. No news from Catherine.

I will be so glad when Wimbledon finishes - stupid prices for tickets - This time last week the cost of men's semi final tickets (ticket only nothing else) was £4,500 EACH - yesterday my friend had a quote of £8,000 EACH - dread to think how much the final will be if Andy Murrey gets through - last Friday we were quoted £7,500 EACH for the mens final - ladies final tickets were £1,200 - aparently they arn't so popular.

Makes my head spin when you think of what you could do with the money & what the suppliers get out of it.

Have to dash - Fat Duck calls - more Alice in Wonderland to listen to - one day I will have heard the whole book.

You can get a Robot Vacume cleaner - its quite expensive

Take Care all

Sunny and warm here this morning (sorry Sylvia) and at least it has rained thank goodness - saves me running round with the watering can.

I think you can buy vacs which run around the floor can't you? Probably very expensive though. They are disc shaped and glide around.....wonder how they get into the corners?

I guess Frank and Reece are busy - well, Reece will be Frank will just be at work...........sorry Frank, couldn't resist that! Jeannie must be busy too and poor Anne never seems to stop.

Just waiting for directions to the party - I'll pick someone up if they need a lift.

Ironing today - oh joy, but at least I am listening to a good audio book whilst I 'press' on. lol

Hi Everyone

Another cold wet day,off to the shops this morning and do the Lotto.

Washing is doing itself now if I could just get the vacy to run around the floor by itself that would be great.

Genes seem to be whooshing a few threads latley, either there are a lot of complainers out there or the site is not too safe if it is deleteing by itself like ours did.

Cynthia shall we leave it sticked for a while then,I don't want to upset anyone .

Frank, Reece and robert have been missing for a few days ,I do hope there are not all in Roberts cave, they may never leave.

So the next birthday party is in July is that correct and I think we have two to celabrate.
I shall be ready.

Better get off to the shops ,check back this afternoon.

The thread that Ginny was running has been whooshed - GR fairy or complaint??? Makes one wonder what is going on.

Sue, sometimes one has to make waves to get good things to happen. We'll be fine, don't worry love.

Glad to hear that you sister in law is picking up a bit. Slowly, slowly.......time will make a difference.

Don't envy you the bookeeping bit...I can never make head nor tail of a balance sheet to be honest.

Must get some messages out. Love to all.
