Hi all

yep C ............. I got back yesterday, and am running around trying to catch my tail!!

Have been side tracked from concentrating on here tonight by watching the rescue of the Chilean miners ........ live, on BBC World News

absolutely incredible!

I've seen the first 3 rescued ...... now OH has gone to bed, and I've turned the tv off, because he seems to be able to hear it no matter how low I turn the sound!!

We had a really enjoyable weekend ....... it was teeming down with rain on Saturday, although the threatened high winds did not appear. Then on Sunday, it was clear as bell, sunny and warm! So we were able to spend all the time out in the garden, as our friend had intended!

Didn't get any turkey ................ Monday was Thanksgiving in Canada, with turkey and all the trimmings being the traditional meal .......... but the weekend was far more enjoyable :)))

Take care everyone

Hi all. Wayne.....you are a speed king then? We have a friend who at 80 years of age still likes messing about with racing cars. He recently had an accident because he went through a red light.....on purpose. It was roadworks and he got fed up of waiting. Silly man.

Evelyn, I love watching Anne Widdicombe for sheer entertainment value. As for the dancers...erm....probably Matt wotsit is as good as it gets for me. Mind you concentrate if you are singing and driving at the same time.

On the way home from school with the grandkids, we were talking about the funeral of their gt.grandmother last week. I told them that the lady who lives opposite me had died on that day. Grandson pops up with "Everybody from here there and everywhere round you is dying aren't they?". Granddaughter...."Well, you're getting to that age aren't you?" I feel so much better for that.......not.

Granddaughter is doing a topic on plastic surgery for one of her lessons and reckons that I don't need it because I haven't got any wrinkles!! That made me feel a bit better. It probably shatters Frank's illusions though...lol

Take care all. Sylvia is due back soon isn't she?? Cx

Hello Friends,
Another lovely day here in Guernsey, beautiful sunshine and a very slight wind.
I have sent a P M to Josie which she has opened, as yet no reply.
Nice to have Wayne with us again.
I have been enjoying Strictly come dancing and having a good laugh at Anne W, she is a case, I know her dancing leaves a lot to be desired but she does make me laugh, I wish they could constrict her Balloons somewhat as they seem to have a life of their own dont they?.
Anne I am still waiting for my chocs, joking aside you always seem very busy.
Cynthia glad you are enjoying Strictly, have you got a favourite yet?, I havent got one yet but I expect I will have soon, some of the contestants are more endearing than others, I dont think I will miss Goldie.
Ron is busy having his after lunch nap, he is still holding the remote control.
I am going out for a drive this afternoon its the only chance I get to sing as I have such a tuneless voice so being alone in the car meeans I can sing as loud as I like and not upset anyone(it sounds O K to me).
Off for a shower now and then watch out coastroad here I come.
Cheerio everyone

Hey Tabs did he see any of our race here in aus " Bathurst 1000" the V8 super car series. these are real thumpers and they race all around the country as well as NZ and Dubie in the UAE.

these guys clock up upto 300klm p h down the straights now that's hookin then you have to back off at the end to get around the bend.
this is one race I'd love to be able to do as a passenger as well as driving but my car is not tuned for these speeds but I occasionally hit the 220/230 mark a bit hairy but my stopping power is not as good as those racers, they have 6pot stoppers mines only 4pots ( brake piston)

Speed love it but there are not enough places around to do it and if you do it on the freeways well then expect to be caught .

The local lads are all the time doing burnouts but Im not that silly as I value my $350 tyres.

ok nuff said on racing

Got an email back from a person who I contacted back in June 2009 say she had just found it and supplied the info I requested so that has verified most of my findings but like all trees there is always just one to upset the apple cart so now the race is on to sort that out.

I just never stops but contacts do bring back a bit of life for you so that you can retrace what you have done and find new findings as the sites upgrad their data bases.

with that said I will vacate until next time

Well everyone sounds as though they have been really busy.

Sue is pining for her own bed; Wayne is up to his neck in water and Anne is rushing around as usual.

Not so busy here. A visit to the optician and new specs for OH. I was told that I was okay it was simply a matter of 'ageing'. Felt really good after that..haha.

I've been wondering about Josie too. Hope she is okay.

Take care friends. Cx

Well well - been a bit quiet around here then.

Been very busy work wise, so missed you all on Thurs & Fri & I worked all day Saturday.

Now Sunday they had to run the Qualifing as Sat was rained out in Japan & it was on at 2am - told OH if he wanted to see it he had to set his phone to vibrate & put it under the pillow as I didn't want that early a start.

I think he got up around 3am - I got up just bef 7am & managed to watch the start of the race with all the crashes. That finished around 9ish - so got on with the washing & he did the car routines etc & washed his car.

Then back he came around 10:25 to watch the Touring Car championship finals which finished at 6pm - thats only 7 and a half hours of TV (he didn't watch all of it just seemed a lot. But he loves it & it keeps him quiet - I am not allowed on the keyboard though.

Wonder whats happened to Josie?

I Love SCD - I love Widdi - her routine with Anton was so funny & even better the banter with the judges. I hope she stays for a few more weeks .

Agree 2 hours was a bit of a stint but i loved it.

Well off to work now - Take care all

Hi Everyone

Just popped home to clean up a bit and make some food for the OH,he is doing OK on his own but I would love to sleep in my own bed for a few nights then I will be fine again .
Four more sleeps then I can come home again.

You all sound like you have busy lives too at the moment.

Frank our kids are the same about dying, the grandchildren are very bad they think we are going to live for ever and cry even at the thought of us dying.

We have just had some much wanted rain ,we have had a very dry winter for us and we have not collected enough water in our catchment areas for the coming Summer so we will have to be very carefull with water this summer.

Evelyn I love liver and onions but the OH won't eat it so I never cook it,mum used to make it when I was a child.

Well I had better get stuck into the housework, catch you all later.

Isn't that strange, we were just talking to my mother-in-law tonight about her spending all of my wife's inheritance when she piped up with.
" I'd like a steak pie tea when I go as it's much more satisfying"
My wife and I were in knots laughing but the kids were not pleased at all as they hate to hear us talk about death....well it happens !

For those of you who may be remotely interested, Gamu of ex X.Factor fame was staying at Airth Casle Hotel near Falkirk last night as my son-in-law was mistaken for paparazzi this morning while taking some photographs of the hotel.

I thought she was being deported so why would she be at Airth Castle with bodyguards.............

Cynthia Report 9 Oct 2010 20:28

Well Evelyn, did you enjoy Strictly then?? I think 2 hours is too long but I did love the Anne Widdicombe bit......such a sport. She has said, apparently, that she will be dressed modestly and will not be showing the cameras anything she wouldn't show the Pope!!!

Sylvia, have a lovely time and go doing too much salsa-ing!!

Frank.........well, good evening to you! Sounds like life is a bit hectic for you at the moment....can you take the pace?

I do not intend to do anything with OH's tooth....we pay enough each month for the dentist to do that and this is going to be EXTRA!!!

I have a double chocha mocha most days ...... use your imagination!

Yesterday was a funny old day. I was just getting ready to go to my daughter-in-law's grandmother's funeral when the phone rang to let us know that a lady across the road had just died. When I looked out of the window (yes I am nosey by nature), I saw the undertakers bringing her out. I have know the undertaker since he was a young boy but I still get surprised when I see him in his undertaking role.

Anyway, went to the funeral which went very well. I was so proud of my son as he had been asked by the family to do the eulogy. He has quite a professional nature about him and did a grand job. Who can he take after? I had warned him that I may be tempted to say "Sev - ern" like Len in Strictly but, in the end, awarded him 11.5 out of 10!!

My two young grandchildren were quite upset but it was right that they were there. They are now old enough to realise that not everything or everyone lasts forever. They are fine today.

They left the church to the sound of Tom Jones singing The Green Green Grass of Home. Unfortunately, the loudspeaker was right behind me and I got such a shock when it began, that I nearly went through the window! I have mixed feelings on tape recorded songs at funerals as I think they can get a bit 'tacky' at times. I love Widor's Toccata so would probably go for something like that.

Going for a little mooch. Love. Cx

Well hello from early morning Glasgow.

Just got back from a wedding with all of our American friends, grandaughter and Scotttish grandaughter and next on the board is a christening, so it's all go this weekend.
Thank goodness we have a week's holiday...........

By the way Sylvia, that sounds quite a plausible plan that your elecrician is using but as the dishwasher is about 24" / 600mm wide, he should only require a rough idea of where it will stand as there will have to be extra cabling to allow removal of said dishwasher for servicing etc.

Cynthia, if you had been paying attention to our DIY classes, you'd be able to drill and fix your OH's tooth all by yourself!
You can also purchase emergency filling / crown repair kits from good chemists , but do tell hubby to stop poking around in his mouth...........that's a dentist's job.

P.S. Did the double chocha mocha fill one 14" legfull or two.........you neglected to say............unless you are still eating it of course ;))

ooooo

save some for me Evelyn. I love liver and onions!

Hi everyone.

The weather has changed here, and is now definitely Fall ........ cloudy, rainy, cooler, etc etc etc

We've been busy as you might imagine!!

The flooring will be laid next Thursday.

We went and picked the counter tops yesterday, ordered them, and the store estimates that they will be there around October 22, then we have to arrange for delivery here.

Our best friend will be 80 on Sunday, and she's having an afternoon party. We're probably going to their house on Saturday evening, and "oldsters" are also invited to stay for the evening after the party on Sunday. "Oldsters" meaning long-time friends, rather than aged friends! We return home on Monday afternoon.

Monday is also Thanksgiving here in Canada ........ and therefore typically big turkey dinner, with all the trimmings.

Ours is about 5 weeks before the US Thanksgiving ...... ours is always on the second Monday in October, theirs on the fourth Thursday in November.

And I always take wicked delight in telling people that Canadian Thanksgiving pre-dates the US one by a couple of hundred years!

Hope all goes well this weekend for you all.

Take care everyone

Hello Friends,
Yet another trip to the eye clinic with Ron, more drops. We have been told that perhaps his eye problem will never be solved and that chances are he will have to use drops for the rest of his life, I guess its not the worst thing that could happen so we must just get on with it.
I have now got my sewing basket packed with all the neccessary bits and bobs, not really big enough for all the rubbish I have collected over the years so will have to find a new home for lots of reels of cotton etc.
I am eagerly awaiting the next strictly come dancing, what will they dress Anne W in for the Salsa?? the mind boggles, sparkly leotard and feather boa perhaps???, would that get our Robert out of his shell do you think?
Must go and make a birthday card for my lovely son he will be 57 on 19th of this month, I am very proud of him he has always been such a kind thoughtful person.
Liver and onions for evening meal today, anyone fancy popping in?
Cheerio for now love to all

What a busy day. That flippin' temporary cap on OH's tooth has come out! Got to go back again tomorrow. All I seem to be doing is taking folks to the dentist....anyone else need a visit?

Hi all

another sunny Fall day ... got down to a cool 8.9C last night

Frank ..... as I understand it ................. he will bring the wire up from the basement

He will drill a hole right in the corner, through floor and cabinet base, then feed the wire up from the fusebox below, and along the back wall of the cabinet to where the dishwasher will be, and then somehow attach the wires to the dishwasher . rpsumabley there will be some sort of connector box.

I didn't talk to him directly, so I'm reporting what OH aid ......... and OH says that Randy wants to have the dishwasher ready to push into place so he knwos exactly where it is to go.

Houses over here in BC are all built of wood, the kitchen and other 3 rooms of the original house, have lath and plaster walls ...... with the plaster being almost 70 years old. More recent house (which included the 1950s extension to this house) have gyproc walls (?? plasterboard?) attached to the studs.

FRANK06 Report 6 Oct 2010 20:02

Yes indeed Cynthia,

When I was in for my kidney stones the ward would empty after meal times as most of the old guys wandered off with their drips attached to "get some fresh air"
Two of them looked as if they didn't have long to go but still went for their giggies even though they returned coughing and spluttering.
I gave up 28 years ago and although it's a difficult thing to wean yourself off, I'm glad I did.

Downton Abbey......We can't get it up here in the north/north as STV have decided to cut back on the good stuff and fill up with rubbish.

Now then, double chocha mocha, was one 14" legfull or two...............

Sylvia,

Yes that is strange to come back when the cabinets are all in place and the flooring done.
Over here you would run a spur from the closest socket which means running a wire from that socket chased in the wall to a position behind the dishwasher.
Then you would cut a hole in the plaster to install a fused outlet into which you would connect the dishwasher wiring.
The dishwasher would then have a fused connection at the wall with an on/off swich.

Very simple to do as long as you remember to turn off the electrics but cutting into plaster to hide the wiring is messy!!??

The only other thing that springs to mind is that he may just run a wire externally instead of burying it in the plaster and surface mount the fused connection unit but that would mean wiring on view................rather odd as I would get the wiring and Fused Connection Unit done first merely having to connect three wires when everything else is done.

I must say hello to Evelyn, hows' it goin sewin' basket what next ??

Susan I had a Tourtishell cat once when I was in the defence force and it lived in my car (window down a bit so's it could get out for whoopsies)
anyhow it hated this girl I was trotting out, it would attack her no end so he finished up and stayed at the pub I use to drink at cause he had his own bowl that every one would tip their beer dregs into. I could do what i like with him but when I ushered him to the car he'd bolt and boy did he get a pot gut from drinking all that beer. That cat was a very rare one as you donot get males very often in tourtishell. his name was Moochie and when I left the forces I kept in contact with the PW hotel until I was told that he passed away at the age of 12yrs and is buried at that pub.
I have never had the chance to go there even today but one day I probably will. On the subject of cats i've been told that it's now about time we got another as it has been 12mths since we lost JUJU. So we are on the look out for a BENGAL cat which has marking like a tiger and acts like one as well but they seem to be a very dedicated cat with a life span of 12/15yrs but at the moment they are in very short in sourcing and vet fees are over the moon all because they are a breed of their own and not a common cat ( rip off merchants ) and I might add they are not cheap.

That's it for now
