If you write to your local coroner and ask if it is possible to look at a particular inquest record 'for medical research' as you want to see if a particular disease etc is prevalent in your family history they have the power to waive the 'closure' rule. It is very much down to the coroner though. |

I wrote to my local coroner and asked to see my uncles inquest for medical research and he provided me with a letter to take to my local archives to allow me to see the papers and I was allowed to photocopy them. Always worth a try. |
