Yes, it is hard work as one is essentially trying to represent a tree in a linear file. Whilst looking at a single family (i.e., parents plus kids) is not so bad, doing much more really needs recreating at least a branch of the tree and whilst you can do this with pen & paper, it's really much easier to, say, download the free PAF Bernie mentioned, or pick up a cheap program out of a remainder bin. |

Re Gedcom files. Latter Day Saints' site has a very plain free download. Also My Heritage is a free download with provision for uploading photos, adding notes, searches etc. |
