Yes, it has been reported on another thread "cannot see childrens names". There seems to be a fault when you add a new child. I closed my tree and re-opened it and it sorts it out.

This is a different issue to the problem with opening your tree in the first place, and does look like a bug.

Is anyone having the same prob as me. Children of relationships arn't being shown. It doesn't matter if I open the Father or Mother, no children are being displayed.

I don't believe there is a software bug as if there was, everyone would be having the same problems which clearly they are not.

To re-iterate - the biggest single cause of your tree suddenly failing to load, or indeed sudden loss of any site functionality is that your browser has run our of space. We are not talking overall disk space here but the amount of disc allocated by your browser, IE8, Firefox or whatever, to load web pages which is known as the cache. This is actually quite small, typically 32 MB. Pressing F5 sometimes works by re-freshing the page directly from the website, but not always.

Your browser is supposed to manage the cache contents automatically but it doesn't always do so and you simply run out of space. You can also increase the amount of disc allocated which is an option if your PC is relatively modern and you are not short of overall disk space.

However, the first thing to do is to delete your browser cache contents, otherwise known as deleting temp files. More often than not this will solve the problem, without having to change the cache size.

Better still install a program such as CCleaner and run it daily. If you do this, then BEFORE running your first cleanup, log on to all your favourite sites first then use the option in CC to save the cookies for those sites. This will ensure that they never get deleted when you run a cleanup.

Unless there is a known problem with the browser you normally use, switching to another browser will only provide a short term solution, The reason it works is that you are starting with an empty cache, in the fullness of time it will get clogged up and the problem simply returns.

If anyone required further help with clearing temp files, increasing the size of you browser cache or installing CCleaner then shout out and someone will advise.

I had difficulty getting past 'sorting relationships' all yesterday afternoon and evening. Thank you to the 12 year old daughter of Christine. I pressed F5 and it worked.

I accessed my tree on the first go this morning, hopefully it was just a software bug that needed a fix.

Could not get past' sorting relationships' using either Internet Explorer or Google Chrome so decided to try opening one of my Contacts trees from the drop down other trees list It opened so while it was open I went back up to the list and clicked on Own Tree 'VIOLA'! I got my tree open at last.
Good luck everyone hope it works for you too.

The GR tree loads into your web browser and requires rather a lot of space as it is relatively large file. If your browser cache is full then it won't load properly.

Clear your internet temp files and try again. This often does the trick.

PS Helen I use Firefox and no probs at present - my tree loads fine, but do a temp file clear out first as suggested above.

Yes, I have the same problem. It get stuck on 'drawing tree' and draws nothing;

had a different problem earlier on today and sent a message to the Help Desk. They said they'd made some improvements and perhaps I needed to upgrade from Internet Explorer 6 as it's no longer supported.

However I'm using Firefox. So don't know.

Worked this morning but not now.
