Thank you all v much for taking the time to reply. I think you're right, Barbara. Foreigh Subject sounds very likely. Does that mean they were classed as a foreign subject in England or in their place of birth (Poland)? I'm just curious as I know they were of Jewish heritage & didn't have the same rights as the Polish community in the 1800s. I'm still really stuck as I can't trace them back any further as I can't find out their birth town. :( |

My ancestors were born in Poland & their place of birth is marked as FS Poland. Can anyone pls tell me what FS stands for? |
