Hi, can anyone tell me the best way to find the reference number I need to order a copy of a marriage certificate from 2009? My local records office only goes up to 2003 but they said I can find the reference number on line? |

Well I have to say I havent ordered from a local Office so cant be sure what they will need ,some too may be more particular than others but then they have to comply with Data Protection Act. I would say you best bet is to phone and ask them what info you need . |

Interestingly, the Data Protection Act is about the fair use of information, not about privacy, as some might assume. |

I know what you mean Inspector but this marriage did take place in the registrars office, and from what I can gather there would have to have been a Notice of intention to marry up to 12 months beforehand and would therefore have been public information anyway...or am I off track? |
