Are there any tips for searching the 1911 census?
I have tried all the names in the family from the 1901 census, plus names of children born between 1901 and 19111.
I have tried all combination of names/spellings/place of birth/residence, and i cannot find any, even though I know they were in that area.
John Deans, born 1877 in hertfordshire John A Deans, born 1898 in West Ham Florence May Deans, born West Ham in 1900 Donald Alexander Deans, born West Ham in 1902
They lived in Canning Town
Any tips more than welcome

http://www.1911census.co.uk/
And then, noting all the details, I went to this site:
http://www.findmypast.co.uk/CensusPersonStartSearchServlet?censusYear=1911
But I did not put in a middle name, nor a place of birth. Fortunately there aren't many Florence Deans.

I usually search on the official 1911 site first like Meg,
Just recently I have found 3 families after much searching by putting in first name only plus yr of birth and just a county. I found that the mother had remarried and had a different name and though the children from her first marriage where written down with their correct birth names, the transcriber had listed them all with the mother's new surname. Must have been a Friday afternoon as the names were quite clear on the image
I have corrected them all!
