Was the birth registered in the same registration district as the nursing home? Legally a birth has to be registered in the area in which the child was born but if the birth was registered elsewhere the mother would have to sign a declaration. |

My maths isn't great but six weeks from 17th September would take you to something like 29th November, so perhaps it was outside the time limit for registration..... Maybe your first thought was correct. |

If the mother went to another rego office to register the birth, she'ld make a declaration and that office would forward this to Oakham for them to make the actual rego. |
