i think this must be the family,as there is a john h on a marrige cert i have

1905 i think,he had a brother called samuel born in 1907

i will try and order the birth cert,thanks for all your help its much apprieciated

aged 24,thats were i got 1906 from i think

i know the cert was the right one as i have a great uncle who gave me the names but he diddnt know much else to help me,

In the register, there are four names on each page, two men and two women

from what i can work out there is 2 different steventon familys raised in and around kettering not sure if we're linked or not

marraige certs only name fathers

If that is the correct family in 1911, then it is the wrong marriage.

That is why it is important to buy the birth certificate for one generation back, to find out who the parents really are

no birth certificate,i bought the marriage cert of my great grandfather george henry steventon,born 1906 thinking that it may have both parents on from both sides,i found the liddington side of the family easy but the steventons are prooving tricky,any idea why there are 2 women with the same reference numbers married on the same day?

I looked on the ancestry website, which is a subscription site. You can find the same information for free on
www.freebmd.org.uk

You need to be sure that you have the correct parents.There is no point tracing back down a wrong line. Have you got the birth certificate for your great grandfather, Joels son? that will give you his mothers name.
If you can post his name, I will look for the birth registration for you. The mothers name is not listed on the Ancestry look up, much before 1911 which is why I chose a later birth

thanks for your help.this is the family as far as i know john h was a witness,with an ann steventon to the marriage,i could only find one joel henry steventon so presumed this was him. the trouble i have is they all seem to have the same names passed down so very confusing for a beginner like me.if you dont mind me asking, how do you find details so quickly? its took me ages just to get this far

If you buy the marriage certificate, that will give you the brides name and her age and her fathers name, so you can go back further
