A message has just come up on my computer from McAfee saying that 1911census.org.uk is a dangerous website and puts my computer and personal identity at risk. What's that about please? |

Just had a look and apparently McAfee have found it has links to freecen.org.uk which seems to be a distributor of downloads some people consider adware, spyware or other potentially unwanted programme |

Thanks for that Beejay, but it's still a bit of a chin stroker for me. Surely Microsoft Security Essentials which I have installed will protect against anything dodgy. |

I've just been onto 1911census.org.uk and Findmypast and had no adverse reaction from Norton Symantec re dangerous website and Google doesn't really bring anything up about it. |

Thanks Frank. Oh dear, no I'm not running McAfee - it must've been a spoof. When I clicked on "fix" another page came up offering me a discount on McAfee. Also, I haven't been onto the 1911census website at all, which puzzles me. |

One way of stopping this problem is to block cookies coming from a third party site. Third party cookies do not come from the web page that you are viewing but through a window in the page, (usually an advert), that leads to a site that the parent page does not control or the contents or cookies being fed from that site. |
