having been bought FTM 2009 for Xmas I've finally got round to using it. I exported my tree from GR in a Gedcom and have just opened FTM to find a list of 18 "tasks" showing a list of names and against them "unrecognised date for the birth / death / marriage" etc. Under the heading "category / location" it says "Import Error" |

Other members have reported this problem, and it appears that the GR export sometimes gets corrupted, although not all of the time. |

Thanks for the replies. For various techy reasons I'm using 2 different computers, one (desktop) with internet access to GR and the other (laptop) offline using Ancestry. |

I rather think its the data packet itself rather than the data format. Gedcom seems to accept multple date formats - for the USA and Uk markets which use a different format. |

I am even less techie, but how can you be using Ancestry offline? |
