I have just spent the last two hours, looking on the 1911 census for my Fitzsimon family. With 5 members in the family, you would think one of them would be home....Tried all combinations I can think of, name wise, and guess what! no entries. Just got to have a moan. I know non of them had left this planet, so where are they???

Ann

Ann Report 8 Feb 2010 14:52

The name is Fitzsimon, Alexander, 1867, Susannah,1869, James,1892 Mary 1896 and Catherine.1894. All born in Manchester, except for James who was born in Egypt. It would be great if you could find even one and tell me how.

Tania. When you say Louis and his tribe, what do you mean. Alexanders' brother was called Louis.

Do you know where Alexander is in 1901, as the family are in Manchester without him?
Do you know what occupation he has?
Do you know if they are all definitely still alive in 1911?
Thanks,
Pat

Hi Patricia. My GGrandad Alexander was away in the army in 1901, I have that census. I know that he was still alive in 1911, also his Wife Susannah my Grandad James. The Daughters I dont know about.

Thanks for helping.

At the moment my best guess is that they have all left the country. (Or a page of census is missing).
Sorry,
Pat

Thanks Pat for trying. I dont think they will have left the country, no money would be a problem. I think you are right and that some of the census is missing. Trust it to be my lot...........

He has military records on ancestry, not a lot,but children are names. Might find something there, but he was discharged in 1907 and died in 1941. Eileen

Hi

Is this your Grandad?

Birth is given as Manchester but he looks a likely candidate as he is with some Bryans (Susannah's family?)

Also.....

On Alexander's pension record Document for 1914 an address is given for Susannah that is different from the one they were at in 1901. I can't dechiper it but if you can make it out have you tried an address search in 1911?

Mark Report 16 Feb 2010 12:51

my name is mark fitz-simon, my father was/is michael fitz-simon born in nottingham

considering how unusual the surname is it isnt easy to find anything about them. i dont know anything about my father as none of my family will talk about him!

who know though fitz-simon, fitzsimmon, fitzsimons, fitzsimmons could all be of the same family.

after all my grandad ended up with his surname mis-spelt due to my great aunt being more than a little tipsy when she registered his birth! and that spelling has continued through 2 further generations.
