Finding a birth before 1841 census

You have all the information you need from FreeBMD to order his birth certificate. That will name both parents (unless he was illegitimate). |

My Gt. Grandfather was born in Great Boughton, Cheshire 1838, how can I find his parents, will I need to apply for his birth certificate and how will I know it's the correct one, any help would be appreciated. |
