is it possible to trace someones record without knowing their service number or what regiment they were in? Also a common name? |

The surviving records are on Ancestry. Many were burnt during WW2 |

There are lots of William Lloyds, but obviously you have been through all of them,so if non are him, I don't know what else you can do without knowing which regiment he was in. |

and of course you really do have to open and look through all the records there are under a certain name to see if you can pick up a clue, such as name of next of kin! |
