Having looked further into this it appears that the inclusion of the word "Aldershot" is an error on the part of Ancestry and should not appear at all. |

He can't have died of war wounds in Aldershot. If he did then he would have been buried in the UK. The fact that he is named on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial means he died in Belgium but has no known grave. |

Margaret, thank you for that info. Next time \\ie go to france , i will try to get to Ypres memorial. Do you know what the 15 star medal would have been? Maybe the Ypres Battle? |

The Second Battle of Ypres began in April 1915 when the Germans released poison gas into the Allied lines north of Ypres. This was the first time gas had been used by either side and the violence of the attack forced an Allied withdrawal and a shortening of the line of defence. |

i am trying to find the record of James P Rensch no. 3/7399 dorset regiment have found that he died of war wounds in Aldershot 24.4.15 Theatre of war states France He also has the usual two medals plus 15 Star (don't know what this is) would like to find out exactly where the battle was? any help please? |
