Tony you are a whizz ! Thank you so much for your efforts on this. A shame about the census records (alledgedly) being destroyed. |

I have been trying for some years now to find out what happened to my Great Grandfather Frederick Waters b. 1856 Chatham Kent England, died 1926 Perth, Western Australia and his second wife Emma Waters (nee Hogben, nee Ralph) and their daughter Marjorie E Waters born 1911 Blean, Faversham, Kent. I know they sailed to Australia on board the Otranto, landing at Freemantle on 12/02/1912. I know that after a short time, Frederick and Emma separated and that's the last I can find of them. I have found that Frederick died in Perth in 1926, but I don't know what he was doing between the time he landed in 1912 and the time of his death or even how he died. I have no idea where he was living, or if he married again, if Marjorie stayed with him or if she went with her Mother Emma (more likely in those times). An old letter states that Emma remarried and moved to China, but I can't find any evidence of this as I simply don't know where to look. I'd love to get hold of a copy of my Grandfather's death certificate, but don't have the first clue on where to obtain it from. I'm hoping it might give me some clues as to who registered the death, if he was married, widowed, single etc and where he was living. |
