finding illegitimate mother

Maybe her mother had previously married and so the baby was registered in the married surname and so would have a different mother's maiden name in the index, regardless of whether or not the husband was the child's father. |

My mother was illegitimate but I can find no trace of anyone with her name being born with the same mother's surname, does anyone have a suggestion about how else i can find her birth record. I don't know her exact date or place of birth either. |
