Hi. As we live in Australia we have to order by post & wait - usually takes 10 to 14 days. Still only have to pay the 7 pounds - usually equates to approx $au14, so that's not too bad. |

Barry - it was Guisborough, up until April they just charged a flat rate of £7 per certificate as did Middlesbrough, although I have checked today and they have upped their charges to £8 aso. |

The local Records Offices are maintained from the Council Taxes, many of them are shedding staff and reducing hours and access. |

I don't think she's been done at all - if she wants the privilege of jumping the queue, then I think she should pay for it. |

I think you have been done - received a certificate on Wednesday ordered online from GRO via post from UK for the sum of £7. No postage paid and it was sent to Spain via France took 14days. |

I have only paid £7 per certificate from either the GRO online or the local register office. Have never paid for postage. The GRO don't even charge postage if you order from abroad. |

I have not been charged more than the current price of £7, and always send an SAE. They are usually sent by return of post. |

I have just been to the local registry office for my Gt Gt Grandfathers death cert and was told that prices have gone up and if I wanted it today it would be £18, £10 for a two day wait or £8 for a five day wait. Now I will admit that it is probably about a year since I last bought a certificate, but it was only £7 (whether you wanted it there and then or wanted it posted to you) - am I just unlucky with my local registry office or has everywhere put their prices up so much? |
