I have the marriage cert of:
Edward Walter Graham aged 23 (he's sorted)
and
Caroline Jacobs aged 22 father Thomas Jacobs - labourer
25th Dec 1925 at Parish Church of Stepney.
Her death in 1945 states her age as 43.
I have ordered two certificates for Caroline Jacobs:
Caroline Elizabeth Jacobs b. Q1 1900 in Bethnal Gn (wrong)
Caroline Emma Jacobs b. Q1 1899 in MEOT father Thomas Jacobs - window cleaner, mother Alice formerly Martin.
AFAIK Thomas Jacobs married Alice Horton b. Burton on Trent not Martin.
I have trawled through births of a Caroline Jacobs which would tie in approximately with given ages on marriage and death and have come completely unstuck.
1901 census:
1901 England Census about Caroline Jacobs Name: Caroline Jacobs Age: 2 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1899 Relation: Daughter Father's Name: Thomas Mother's Name: Alice Gender: Female Where born: Stepney, London, England Civil parish: Mile End Old Town Ecclesiastical parish: Holy Trinity Stepney County/Island: London Country: England Street Address:

1911 census
Alice aged 35 Burton on Trent Caroline Emma aged 12 MEOT Thomas aged 10 MEOT William John aged 3 Stepney.
So my confusion relates to:
If I have the correct Caroline (Emma) Jacobs when she was married she should have been 24 yrs 11 mths not 22 as stated. On her death she should have been 45/46 not 43 as stated.
I would be so grateful for any thoughts on this as I could quite happily cry.
Thanks
Sue
Edit: I have to go offline for a couple of hours so please bear with me for replies to any questions/answers, thanks.

Who was the informant on the death certificate? You have to remember that the information is only ever as good as the knowledge of the informant. Age at death can be way out depending on who is giving the information. Who were the witnesses at Caroline's Wedding. Were they relatives. Their names may help locate her more positively.

Gosh,
Thank you for the replies. The witnesses on the marriage cert were:
John Hurst (he ties in with the Graham side) Emma Cecil
I will have a look at the Caroline which Jim found because those dates would fit in.
Thanks Astra I'll bear that marriage in mind.
Thanks again.
Sue
