The previous posts refer to English certificates - there is no uniform UK 1863 certificate. A Scottish marr cert would show the names and maiden surnames of both sets of parents, plus both fathers' occupations. An 1863 Irish m.cert is like an English one. A Scottish d.cert would show her current (=married) name and both parents' names and maiden surnames (assuming the informant knew them). |

Thanks for the info. Trying to search from the definite back to the unknown. Several options for birth certificates, need to identify at least one parent so I can select which persons birth certificate to go for. |

If she was married in 1863 she might have been born after 1837 so you might find a birth certificate - that will show the mother's maiden name. |

Thank you Kate. At least that will be a lead. The credit card has just burrowed deeper into the handbag!!! |

Her father should be - her mother probably won't be because there's only a box about the father's name and occupation, but that might be enough to narrow it down. |

Please tell me if the parents of the bride are shown on a UK 1863 marriage certificate. I need to locate a birth certificate for the person and need to know which one she is from a choice of hundreds. Having parents' names would be a bonus. |
