I have also seen it reported that if you view census images via GR, there is no facility to view previous (or next) page, which can mean missing out on several family members......... |

Thanks again! Have only just renewed Ancestry but might re-consider next year as all my relatives are resolutely English with a few Welsh folk for luck! |

One difference is GR Gold only covers England & Wales where as Ancestry also has the Scottish census. |

OK. What is the problem with it tho? 1881 is free and we all pay for 1911 anyway. Still cheaper than ancestry or findmypast. |

I have recently spoken to someone who is adamant she pays £35 a year sub to Genes, and for this gets access to all censuses, including being able to view originals. What is that all about then? Any ideas folks? If it were true wouldn't we all do the same? |
