I don't use it but there is a soundex facility via exact matches. |

Glad it's not just me that finds it annoying. I've cancelled my subscription - only got two days left and then I'm going to have a look round to see what else is on offer. I have really tried to get used to it but one thing I notice it doesn't cope with so well is alternative spellings - I've just been looking for a Peter McCourt in 1841, for instance who could be spelt any old way (McCort, MacCourt or anything else) and I notice it is just as hard to search that year as it ever was. I think it could really benefit from a soundex type of search facility sometimes. |

I found that if you click on SEARCH instead of HOME then a yellow bar appears,in which you can switch between old and new. |

That's very interesting ,Thanks. I have been looking all around the site and couldn't find any way of going back to the Old Search. Didn'T make it easy did they !! I assumed what you had was the only way now |

Hi, I agree the new Ancestry search is absolute rubbish. Just had a look on mine and the old search is still there in small writing on the top right of the page. You will have to go into the new search first though. |

You cant I am afraid. They did an update a little while ago and the new set up is the only only way you can search now. |

Please can someone advise me how to retrieve Ancestry's old search engine? The new one is rubbish and I can't seem to find the old one. |
