if you know her date of birth and she died 1984 onwards, then you can search the death registers (if you have sub) on ancestry for Edith, with no surname but with dob - I found a distant cousin's real name by doing something similar, we always knew her as Jenny, but her real name was Sarah Jane, so I searched for her surname and dob in death register |

I have my husbands great grandmother Edith Bartlett on 1901 and 1911 census. I've been told that she went to America after her husband died in 1913. I do know that she died here in the UK because my husband remembers her. I cannot find a death for her and wondered whether she possibly married in the USA and then returned to England with a different name. Is there anyway I can find out? |
