Hi guys,
I really hope you can help me as I think I'm losing my marbles lol. I'm searching for Alvina MOXON and her family in the census returns. I have her birth certificate which confirms father as Joseph MOXON (a miner) and her mother as Mary DOBSON. Alvina was born 16 Oct 1850 in Hesley Lane, Ecclesfield, W Yorks.
I also have the marriage certificate for Joseph and Mary - they married on Xmas Day in 1849 when Joseph was 22 and his bride was 21 (perhaps lol) so we have an idea of their birth years, thus ages. Joseph and Mary, Christmas Day....hmmmm, that kinda rings a bell lol. ;-) Anyhoo, the marriage cert lists Joseph as a miner as expected and they were married in the parish church at Rotherham. They were both living in Scholes at the time of marriage. Joseph's father was William Moxon and Mary's was Thomas Dobson (both miners). None of them could read or write it seems.
I am having huge problems locating Joseph and Mary and their family on any census returns, so I'm wondering if you guys might like to cast a fresh set of eyes over them for me? I really would be so grateful for any help. Thank you!!
P.S. They definitely had another daughter and her birth cert lists her as Ann Honor Moxon, b. 17 Dec 1853 in Thorpe Common, Kimberworth, Rotherham, S Yorks. The names match for parents, as does the occupation.

I've been searching for Alvina on the censuses with no luck but just found a death for her Dec. Q 1850, Wortley (22 546)

Thanks Ann and Margaret for all your help. :O) I did find the family you have located for me Ann, but was a bit wary as its such a change of direction, from miner to landowner! I've saved the info though, as you can never be entirely sure.
I'll also look into that death record too - thanks Margaret! :O)

This looks like them in 1851, occ is miner. Think her age should be 22, image not too clear.
