I have a copy of my late grandfathers birth certificate which gives his mothers name Isabella Langlands but not her mothers maiden name. My grandfather was illegitimate and so given away not adopted to another family who simply refused to reveal anything. I thought I had made a connection using the census's and bought lots of certs. using Isabella Langlands residing Easington, Durham to potential father Robinson Taylor Langlands and mother Barbara Straughan. However a member on genes has informed me this is incorrect. My question is how can I trace his mother if I do not have her mothers maiden name.
