Thank you all very much for your help and also a thank you to the Family Tree Forum for their input, “Straw Plaiters” makes complete sense as its what they are employed at in the later census’s. |

If you click on page 1 of the 1841 census return you will see some vertical writing on the left hand side of the page which I think says: |

Well, its really confusing everyone. Over on FTF they feel it must be a localised trade - do we know what the local industry woman could do at home was? You know, how you get weavers in every house in certain areas. |
