I have a William Collier born around 1814 in Bury, Lancs. On his marriage cert in 1860 his father is down as James Ratcliffe. Don't know where to go from here to find out who his mother was and if James Ratcliffe was his father - any ideas? |

Ah Anne, this could be a really interesting one. This is what research is all about - finding the less than obvious. |

I am off to the archvies in Bury on Friday to see what I can find. In 1871 he has an adopted son with them called Hamlet Collier, in 1881 Hamlet is back with his real family in Warrington - what's that all about? |
