Can anyone help? My Grandad was William Edward Smith DOB 1886 from Hartlepool. We think he was adopted, his fathers name on the copy of his marriage certificate was also William Edward Smith. Unfortunately I do not know his BIRTH name, i have contacted the Salvation Army but they can't help. Has anyone any tips who I can get in touch with, the problem is my information is very vague. |

Thank you for info, i already have this. It was my mum that thought he was adopted, I even sent for a birth certificate of a William Smith from Hartlepool but unfortunately it wasn't the right one as his father on the one I sent for was John Smith!! |
