Once again, thank you - wikipedia has an interesting and enlightening article. Handsworth Histotical Society created a record of every monument in the churchyard which runs to 6 volumes and deposited copies with the BMSGH Society, Society of Genealogists, London, Local Studies Dept, Birmingham Reference Libary and Stafford County Record Office. |

Sorry I should have been more specific St Mary's closed to new burials in 1909 according to the city council |

St Mary's Churchyard opened in the 16th century and the first burial was in 1558 - the churchyard closed in 1909. |

I am trying to find out about if Handsworth Old Churchyard still exists as I am trying to find out if there is a headstone for a burial that took place in 1908. |
