For institutions like prisons and workhouses, GR only show the record of the named person. If you look at the image you can see who else is on the same page but not on the other pages. |

From using resources on GR and ancestry I was able to see whether the person was married (although no names listed), age, year of birth, place of birth and profession...I guess if everything matches then it is pretty likely, especially if it is an uncommon first name or surname. |

I was looking for an ancestor and came across a William Dawson, who was a prisoner at the 'Old Elvet, Durham'. I clicked to view other people living there and found no one. No other prisoners, no authoritive figures. It has him listed as married, and has a profession listed....could this be right? |
