It does like this could be her.....although I have no idea where she then disappears to between 1871 and turning up married in Loughborough in 1901! It would be a big help if I could find a possible marriage, but I can't even find one for a Henry Kitchen and a Selina "Anything"!

I'll keep you posted if I find anything,

Thanks to everyone.

HI,

Thank you all. I've looked at the Selina Burchell in 1871 with grandparents. I can only find that Henry & Elizabeth Burchell had 2 other children:

William born 1847 in Rowley Nottingham (can't find him after 1851 in Yorkshire)
Harriott born 1850 in Clifton, Yorkshire. She married George Barker in 1868 in East Retford, Notts and died between 1871-1881. I can not find any evidence that she is the mother of Selina. I think I'll have to get the birth cert from 1867 to see.

Henry & Elizabeth Burchell are in Yorkshire in 1881. Can anybody see what hapened to their grandaughter Selina? I've looked for a Selina Barker just in case she took her stepfathers name.

Thank you again,

Vicky

Have you checked the census image in 1901?. Is her age clear?. It could have been transcribed wrong

I do think it’s most likely they met in Nottingham. This family is such a pain!

Yes, she was a fair bit older than him wasnt she. But they are living in Leicestershire in 1901 though they are both from Notts, so its likely they met in Notts?

Hi,

They were living in STANFORD UPON SOAR LOUGHBOROUGH in 1911. I think it's possible that Selina married before, but I can not find a marriage between a Selina and someone with a surname something like Birchnall!

Thanks

Could selina have been married before do you think?

Hi,

My Great grandmother was Agnes Marion Kitchen (b1898, Loughborough). Her parents were Henry Maples Kitchen (b1872, Boughton, Nottingham) and Selina (b1864, Plumtree, Nottingham).

I have Agnes’ birth cert which states MMN as Burchnall, but I can’t find any Selina with this name and for over 2 years I have been unable to find a marriage between Henry & Selina.

I always thought Agnes was an only child as nobody in my family knew of any siblings plus in 1901 Selina was in her late 30s with only one child.

I’ve been on the 1911 and was surprised to find they had another child called Frederick Henry Kitchen (b1901, Ashby de la Zouch). Agnes called her first born son Fred in 1921, so I think her brother may have died before this as my family knows nothing of him, although I haven’t been able to find out anything about him as yet.

I have his birth cert as well which states MMN as Birchenhall. Again I haven’t been able to find any Selina with this name.

The 1911 census says Henry and Selina have been married for 20 years.

Can anybody think of where I can go from here? It is driving me mad!!

Many thanks in advance for any advice/help on who Selina was and maybe what happened to her son Frederick.
