Gordon, just checked for you and William is living at 8 Henry Street, Tunstall aged 2. He is living with Richard & Harriett Stockton and what looks like a brother Harrold aged 7. Hope this helps. |

Just checked back myself and, no, the errors haven't been corrected. Yet. |

I have looked at a transcription error I reported in the first day or two of the census being online. I had a mail from them on 17 Jan, confirming that the error existed and that it would be amended 'shortly'. |

Hi, I have reported all of the errors and have had acknowledgements for 3 of them so far; they say they will sort errors out within 2 days - and today is day 2 so let's see if they can do this. |

Mistooks adn erers do ockur, but wee are awl hewman! Ok, I do agree that the error rate I have experienced seems to be high than FMP/1911 would like us to believe. However I think it important that when you find major mistakes you should report them and, perhaps separately, seek reimbursement of wasted credits. In the real world, if you bought something from a shop then later found it faulty you would certainly seek a refund. Census info is no different, regardless of the year or census provider. |

Yes, I have also come across a number of mistranscriptions but in most cases they were understandable since the writing is often cramped or ill-formed. I suppose this is the price we have to pay for seeing our ancestors' own handwriting. |

I started looking at the 1911 census 3 days ago - and so far have found 4 mis-transcriptions, 3 of which were in one family. I had to double-check the actual census pages which has cost me lots of money so I'm not a happy bunny. To find some of these badly copied names I used surname-only searches together with year of birth which is also very time-consumingI can't believe that, for me, the error rate has been so high and I hope the rest of you have better luck. |
