What can I achieve from going to the records offic

The info on parish records for marriages after 1837 is exactly the same as you would find on a certificate. |

This may seem like a really silly question but I'm very new to all this... Am I right in thinking if I go in person to the records office rather than searching online I can still only see the BMD indexes and not the detailed information relating to a B, M or D? What other information might I get by going to a records office? |
