Presumably they both left the Army before 1854. All surviving discharge papers are name indexed on the National Archives Catalogue, under refs WO97 and WO121. If not there, then you would need to know their regiment to find them on muster rolls etc. Not sure whether there is medal roll for the medal. If so, this might give the regiment, but then it might be arranged by regiment, so you would have to go through all of them. |

Thank you both. I have no idea what regiments they were in. I did once find a reference to one of them at kew but neither I or the archivist could find the record( although he was not feeling too helpful I think!) |

Where did you look at the National Archives? Do you know which regiments they were in? |

I am hoping someone may be able to help me find out more about Ambrose and Christopher Rosebrook who fought in the Indian mutiny. I know this because I found their names on a site on the Internet which listed them as having received medals. |
