I meant to add that the reason for this is that FTM automatically updates the data file incrementally each time you add or amend something, which you cant do with a data stick. |

Are the changes showing up on your laptop? If so did you save the updated file on your laptop back to the memory stick? |

I have all my family history on Family Tree Maker, and after a total loss of all my information due to PC failure - I purchased an external hard drive. Now, my FTM files are saved automatically, and backed up onto this external drive - no problem there. However, I now want to transfer my FTM files onto a memory stick, so that I can work away from home on my laptop. Thought this would be easy - transferred my files onto a memory stick, and opened on my laptop - got a message stating I could NOT work from a memory stick, and should load my files onto the hard drive of my laptop. Tried this, made several entries, and fould they have not been recorded. |
