really good prog

but the only thing that got me was while ploughing etc the guy said he was having fun!
bet my ag lab ancestors[hundreds of them] would have said
right mate you come and do it 12 hours a day in all weathers and get paid 10 bob a week for it and then see if its fun !!


well at least one of us on here has a good pedigree then heatherpos!!!
.im just a mongrel from a long line of ag labs and glovers.

my family still farm and thank heavens for air conditioned[ in summer] and heated in winter tractors and good radios and cushioned seats nowadays.
as a child our tractor had a metal seat and air conditioning all year
but at least i didnt have to walk 9 miles a day while ploughing!

I was fascinated because that my ancestral home :) My line is through the Acton family there back to William the Conquerors buddy, the Le Strange family. So brilliant for me :)

Looking forward to this......all mine were Ag Labs except my Grandad, Great Grandad and Great Great Grandad on my Dad's paternal side who were all tailors.

Thanks for highlighting this. One of my lines is almost entirely ag labs and I've been searching for a book or something to tell me the pattern of their year , living conditions etc. This programme sounds ideal. Cheers, Moira.

I have loads of them and I wouldn't know about the programme other than this thread.

any ag labs!.................in my family Gwyn, it's a case of who wasnt and I'll view with interest.

A new series of 6 programmes starts about life on a farm in 1885.
The write-up looks quite promising.
They will wear clothes from that period and use materials available at that time.
