I'm trying to work out how to look for the baptism of my ancestor around 1806. His marriage entry in 1833 provides no details of the fathers of bride or groom. How do i find a baptism entry in Middlesex around 1806 with no father's details for confirmation i have the right entry? Or am i hoping for too much from too little? I'm going slowly crazy with this person. |

Maybe a family member was witness to the marriage....either a sibling or father perhaps?....although they won't be shown as such. |

Thanks Gwyn. The marriage entry shows two witnesses but neither appear related to my George. Found them on the 1841 and 1851 census but were alone as a family. George died in 1860 and as the landlord of a pub i wonder if he had a will and if there may be some info in there that could be useful. Any ideas where i get copies of wills? |

Outlines of wills are in index books at the Probate Office in Holborn. If you find an entry, you can then purchase a copy of the will for £5, unless it has gone up since November. |

Thank you everyone. The ancestor is George Wardell born c1806 in Middlesex and died May 1860 in Lambeth, Surrey. As the Will would have been proved after 1858 I think, if there is one, it would be held at the Probate Offices in York so I'm sending off for them to do a 4yr search from 1860. |
