Ive searched high and low for my gran on the 1911 - she would have been 22 at the time - no sign of her though I found the rest of her family. |

No, there are only 2 in the whole of London, neither of which are her and she should have been at home with her family - mum, dad, bros etc. but isnt. (she was the accountant for her fathers business and lived on the premises with them) She was still living there at the age of 30 when she married. |

I've just searched for 4 different families, all were living in London at the time of the 1911 census. I cannot find a single one of them. |

You've got to admire your Nan Heather haven't you? She sounds a fantastic person. Was she ever mentioned in the press, especially for her bravery exploits? |

I have been having a rare old time looking up on the census and found it worked better just putting in the surname and then an approx area if the results were too many to display. |

Thanks Cynthia, yes, in the press and in a book about war time London - a few photos of her too. The archivist at southwark has been very kind and sent me other stuff of citations from the War Committee and so on. |
