I've just found out my GGG grandad was a Chelsea Pensioner. |

there were IN pensioners and OUT pensioners. Out pensioners were those that came out of the Army on a pension and didnt reside in the Chelsea Hospital . |

go to the site and put his name in search. If he does comes up you can request a copy of the record and pay for it online,the record will be sent by snail mail !! |

But you know he was out by1869 ,have you found him on the 1861 or his marriage ,this would give some sort of time span |

Yes his marriage was in Q2 1865 in St Pancras. Would that mean that the documents relating to his pension would be dated before this i.e. his date of discharge? |

Only those discharged to pension up to 1854 are name indexed on the National Archives catalogue. If it was after this, you'd have to go to Kew or get someone to go for you. Problem is, if he was discharged before 1872, you'd need to know his regiment to find his records. There's a 3 year project, though, to put them all online, if you can wait that long! |
