Please can anyone help - I've only recently upgraded to full membership of GR and am trying to find census records for Coulson family of Sunderland/Gateshead area - I have these details (father Thomas b1831, mother Sarah b1832, children Ann b1853, William b1855, Sarah b1856, Thomas b1862, Edward b1863, Matthew b1869, Oliver b1872) but I can't find any of them in the 1871 records. Have you tried altering the spelling a bit? The trouble being if the surname is wrong then the rest of the family will be too. |

I'm not sure if they're incomplete or not but I have heard that it's a very expensive way of researching. You might be better off considering a sub to Ancestry or Findmypast - although they might seem expensive you have unlimited lookups on all sorts of records and if you break it down by month or week it works out really good value. |
